Raz na dwa, trzy lata w jednym
z państw świata odbywają
się Światowe Dni
Młodzieży, czyli spotkanie
młodzieży katolickiej z papieżem.
Pomysłodawcą tego
wydarzenia jest św. Jan
Paweł II, który w 1985 roku
zaprosił młodzież do Rzymu
na obchody Niedzieli
Palmowej.
Ku zaskoczeniu wszystkich na spotkanie
przybyło 300 tysięcy osób z różnych państw
świata. Od tego czasu co roku w Niedzielę
Palmową obchodzone są Światowe Dni
Młodzieży na poziomie diecezjalnym, a raz
na dwa, trzy lata, w miesiącach wakacyjnych,
młodzież z całego świata spotyka się
w jednym z wybranych miast z papieżem.
Once in every two or three years in one
of the countries in the world, World Youth
Days are held, i.e. a meeting of the Catholic
youth with the Pope. St. John Paul II originated
this event in 1985, when he invited
young people to Rome for the celebration
of Palm Sunday. To everyone’s surprise, 300
thousand people came from all around the
world. Since then, every year on Palm Sunday
World Youth Days are celebrated at the
diocesan level, and every two or three years,
in the summer months, young people from
various countries meet the Pope in one of
the selected cities.
