Aditya Birla Group (ABG) in Thailand is a well respected global brand,
recognized for its vision, leadership, social responsibility and values
adherence.
This year of change was marked by portfolio expansion, penetration
in domestic market and improved quality of products and services.
Increased market competition, government direction on VAP, and
global economic downturn have been major challenges that business
has faced and may continue to face in the near future. Our people
strategy, a part of our business strategy is designed in view of these
opportunities and challenges.
In the reporting year, HR initiatives focused on two areas, motivation
of employees and resource development. Structural changes were
made and a series of improvements in communication channels
and employee engagement were launched. Additionally, training and
development programs were delivered to increase and strengthen
employees’ competency. The labour union’s demand charter was
negotiated for a three year period for the first time in several years.
There were many firsts in the reporting period:
o Approximately 94% of employees had annual medical check-ups .
o Collaboration with /funding from the government to conduct
trainings for locals at Skill Development Centre, Ayutthaya.
o Performance Review of expatriate and local employees harmonised
to the same cycle.
o Well structured Management strategy workshop conducted.
In the next reporting year, we will be focusing on building competencies
of people, system and the organization in order to support both
development and execution of business strategy.
