Faronaaz Patel
My name is Faronaaz Patel, wife to Rashid Patel. I am
blessed with three beautiful daughters Halima, Ammaarah
and Amena who are currently studying Medicine,
Accounting Science and Biomedical Engineering at
the University of Witwatersrand, after attending Kingsmead
College. I have spent the last 10 years as Head
of the Greenside Pre Primary which is a division of the
Greenside Primary School. I am a qualified Montessori
Directress and have a Degree in Intersen and Senior
Phase Teaching. Before Greenside, I ran a playschool
from home.
Early Childhood development under its enormous umbrella
speaks to me as I find myself on a lifelong journey
to better myself as a teacher. It is with this that I
find myself now at The Ridge.
The Ridge encompasses an environment that acknowledges
the “whole child learning”. I believe in the old
Chinese proverb: every child’s life is like a piece of paper,
on which every person leaves a mark. It is vital to
inspire children to believe they can be anything they
want to be. I believe that the classroom needs to be a
safe space that encourages creative thinking and that
challenges children to think out of the box. The Ridge
encourages children for self-regulation, confidence and
empathy. These are values that are important to me
and I can already see it in these divine young lads.
Holly Ferrar
After 6 happy years at St Katharine’s, on the other side
of the hill, I thought it was time to try my hand at
teaching boys! It has been a most wonderful start and I
am so excited to be part of this incredible school. I am
just loving Grade 2!
I am married to Guy and we have two beautiful boys of
our own. Max is almost three and Hugo has just turned
one. We enjoy spending time in our garden, swimming
and baking together.
I am a proud South African and I enjoy opportunities
to engage with people from all walks of life. We have so
much to learn from each other.
