Musical treatment of Alzheimer
Over four hundred thousand
Seniors who are 65
and older in the grip of
Alzheimer’s disease in Turkey.
There is no definitive treatment of
this disease, which leaves various
psychological traces and effects
on patients’ relatives as well as
patients.
It is not easy to delete permanent
traces that you leave. Alzheimer’s
first encounter with a 45-year-old
wife when she got caught in this
disease, Hidayet began fighting
with her 77 year-old wife Hidayet
A 3 years ago with a disease that
caused memory loss, a social
phobia and a family life.
She gave up everything in his life,
never thought to give his husband
to a hospital or nursing home
despite the helplessness and
exhaustion she had experienced.
Thanks to a model of care at
home, where she received
professional support, she turned
the house into a nursing home for
her husband.
On this count, Mrs. Hidayet , who
also returned to her normal life
and made artistic works at the
same time, made her favorite
paintings to fight the disease,
which is the biggest illness, and
recalled her favorite songs by
playing Ud. She got the power
to cope with the disease from
art. Mahir, who was caught in
Alzheimer’s disease at the age
of 74 and was no longer able to
recognize his wife due to illness,
began to remember her at the age
of 77, thanks to his wife’s support.

Indicating that the husband
struggled with love and patience
with his illness, Hidayet explained
the process he had experienced:
“My husband was very cheerful
and funny . He changed suddenly
when he has got ill. He has
started to loose his memory and
couldn t regognize me anymore.
I was shock at first. When ı went
to doctor I found out that my
husband was Alzheimer.I tried
medicine treatment but my
husband was wasn t as cheerful
as he was before.I realized that
his social and family life became
slower due to his health problem.
I decided to take care of my
husband by myself. I needed
someone who can help and
support me, and my friends and
families suggested me to get
home care for my husband. With
the home care support of Dr.
Tayyar Vardar and his nurses my
husband started his normal life.
Now he is eating, taking shower
and surprisingly he is going out
which he hasn t done for two
years. I continued to support
him mentally and emotionaly by
drawing pictures that he likes.
Now I am getting ready to exhibit
my pictures on an art galery.

noted that Alzheimer’s is a major
health problem that concerns a
large population and he stated
that their families can not cope
with the Alzheimer when it is
advanced. They experience

Alzheimer’s patients have
depletion and depression. In
the later stages of their illness,
relatives of the family have
difficulties in combating the
disease and therefore need
constant care for the patient.

relatives. When relatives of
patients leave their nursing
homes, they can receive
professional support in their own
homes, follow up the process, and
participate in the process

when Alzheimer’s care is being
performed, family members are
reminded of their old hobbies
such as music or pictures,
showing love and affection, and
maintaining a moral and peaceful
environment. For this reason,
