includes refined products, dry bulk, and LNG transport.
Secondly, marine services activities, which comprise petroleum
ports operations, diving and oil spill response.
Thirdly, offshore logistics activities that include offshore
support vessels and an integrated logistics base. Fourthly,
onshore activities which consist of a marine passenger
terminal and a container terminal.
In support of all these activities, ADNOC L&S also provides
extensive petroleum port services for Ruwais, Das,
Zirku and Fujairah, and Mubarraz, including pilotage, tugs
and mooring services, to deal with the complex navigation
of tankers into port and their loading.
Investing in localization to diversify and develop the
UAE economy
With Abu Dhabi possessing majority of the UAE’s oil
resources at approximately 94 percent, this alone places
ADNOC in optimal position to continue fortifying their
stance as an oil producing powerhouse. As the 12th largest
oil producer in the world, they are currently cranking
out 3 MBPD (million barrels per day) and are on target
to achieve 3.5 MBPD by the end of the year. However,
despite the organization’s firm foundation, they continue
to look towards the future.
ADNOC’s 2030 Vision seeks to create more profitable
upstream, more valuable downstream, and more
sustainable and economic gas supply. Their In-Country
Value (ICV) initiative, which was recently implemented in
the past years should prove beneficial in doing so. Constructed
with the intention of developing UAE Nationals,
it seeks to provide a competitive edge for its suppliers. By
focusing on local supplier selection, the purpose of the
ICV is to increase the localization of critical functionalities
in the oil and gas industry altogether.
Al Masabi commented, “We are optimistic that the ICV
will aid the process as it should incentivize partners to
invest, develop the economy of Abu Dhabi and the UAE
and ultimately be part of a successful journey towards
the future.” He further added, “It’s important for us to
first develop the local expertise and witness first hand,
their contribution towards the diversification of ADNOC
group.” Despite the ICV’s recent existence, it proven successful
in a short amount of time and been received with a
positive overall reception. Additionally, it has aligned with
Abu Dhabi’s familiar history of welcoming private sector
investments into its upstream oil and gas production and
exploration sectors.
