Brand story
Famous “Geek-Chic” Valerie Steele, Director of The
Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology, wrote
in her book "Akris: 1922-2012": “It is modern to create a style
that is simultaneously feminine and strong. The streamlined look
of Akris fashion is designed to enhance the body, not to restrict
it, and also to provide psychological strength and energy through
a feeling of effortless just-rightness. This is fashion for the
individual, modern woman.”
On behalf of Swiss fashion, creative director of the luxury
brand Akris, Albert Kriemler, creates an effoltless yet
glamorous atmosphere in addition to a feminine style.
Rich architectural lines, full of creative details and precious
materials are shaped by exquisite fashion skills. Career
women can dress easily in various ways. From Angelina
Jolie to princess Charlène of Monaco, they are all in love
with the clothing line.
Akris originated in the Swiss town of St. Gallen. Since the
19th century, extraordinary crafts have gathered here.
And its fashion houses’ long-established manufacturers
have been the heart of the Swiss textile industry. Akris
the brand, in the hands of Ms. Alice Kriemler-Schoch, was
officially born in 1922.
In 1944, the son of Alice, Max Kriemler, inherited the
company and began to expand the international influence
of the brand. Today, it is the third generation of the
family who runs the business -- brothers Peter and Albert
Kriemler. Peter Kriemler is responsible for the business
development and the operations management. In 1980,
when Albert Kriemler was 20 years old, he joined the
family business to become the creative director and has
been in charge of the new product design and brand image
until now.
Albert Kriemler helmed the design for thirty years. Thanks
to his talent, he was awarded for his design expertise. Each
award is the affirmation of his fashion attitude. Now in
retrospect, his groundbreaking insights in every creation,
without exception, have always been successful -- "Style
is all about the woman; it's about her personality. You should
notice the woman first, and what she is wearing follows."
Wearing splendid clothes with very high heels, fashion
glamorous women have a hard time to complete their
daily work; strictly professional outfits can almost cause
irritability, stress and also make you look older. With
Akris, women will not face such dilemma. It is low-key,
yet stunning; it is chic, yet soft; a whole atmosphere of
refinement. In a nutshell, an American fashion
critic once described Akris as: "Spectacularly
unspectacular".
Akris clients are women who are often in the
public eye, so their outfits must be sophisticated;
women consider fashion as a way of showing
their own personality, so the design must be
full of creativity, full of charming details; which
take into account all the needs of women. Using
the finest materials is also important. It is a
delicate art. It is worth mentioning that Akris
horsehair materials used for accessories are
carefully selected from the Mongolian plains,
and the unique "double-sided techniques"
are worth trying. Besides, in St. Gallen,
many workshops never stopped working for
Akris, the brand has been collaborating with
traditional seiko-like craftsmen and women
for decades.
