1.1.4 The Department of Energy Technology of KTH (Royal Institute of
Technology):
In Stockholm, Sweden, beginning in 2007, it offers a specialization programme on solar
energy within its international Master program Sustainable Energy Engineering (see
http://www.energy.kth.se/index.asp?pnr=15&ID=222&lang=0) that was launched in 1997.
The courses are held at Dalarna University and they are identical to those presented in the
European Solar Engineering School. Over 200 students from around 50 different countries
have participated in the program SEE since 1997. The program is open to applicants from
all over the world, and there are no tuition charges. Instruction is in English. Successful
completion of the program results in the award of the degree Master of Science in
Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Sustainable Energy Engineering.
1.1.5 European Master programme in Materials for Energy Storage and
Conversion:
(http://www.u-picardie.fr/mundus_MESC/) is supported by the EU initiative Erasmus
Mundus. This is a two-year programme taught in English, with a mandatory course on PV
included during the second semester held at Warsaw University of Technology in Poland.
Professors and researchers that teach in this Master already interact greatly through the
European Research NoE (Network of Excellence) ALISTORE. Partners in this programme
are the University of Picardie Jules Verne (France), University of Toulouse 3 Paul Sabatier
(France), University of Provence Aix-Marseille I (France), Warsaw University of
Technology (Poland) and University of Cordoba (Spain). Around 45 international and
European students study in 2-4 countries and work on a thesis in one of the 16 laboratories
of the NoE ALISTORE. Students graduate with a multiple Master degree awarded by the
universities of the consortium and recognised in each of the countries visited.
1.1.6 European Master programme in Management and Engineering of
Environment and Energy:
Is supported by the EU initiative Erasmus Mundus (http://www.mastereurope-me3.org).
PV is part of one of the courses. The duration of the programme is two years; the language
of instruction is English and it is designed for 30 students. This programme is organised by
the Ecole de Mines de Nantes (France), the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid (Spain), the
Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden), the Budapest University of Technology and
