This programme intends to provide an updated knowledge and skills on PV technology and applications. The working language of the Summer School is English. The target groups are: • Graduate and post-graduate students. • Professionals who require an updating and widening of their professional horizons and competitiveness. More information can be found at: http://solar-net.teipat.gr/RESlab/reslab.htm. 1.3.8 CZECH REPUBLIC An international workshop on Teaching Photovoltaics (IWTPV) provides a forum for technical discussions in the field of photovoltaics, especially problems connected with education in this field. It is organised by the IET Czech Network in co-operation with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (Department of Electrotechnology) Czech Technical University in Prague. PV i Undervisningen EFP 33033-0020 1.3.9 Switzerland Switzerland offers the possibility for specific training activities at the universities of applied sciences. A Master in Energy Systems in which photovoltaics is a part of the curriculum is offered at NTB (Interstate University of Applied Sciences of Technology) in Buchs, Switzerland (http://www.ntb.ch/4967). At ISAAC (Istituto di Sostenibilita Applicata all’ Ambiente Costruito) of SUPSI (University of Applied Sciences of Southern Switzerland) in Lugano (close to Italy) the following training courses in the field of energy in buildings and photovoltaics are made in Italian for professionals in the energy field, engineers, architects, and installers: - PV in architecture (http://www.isaac.supsi.ch/ISAAC/Fotovoltaico/Formazione/Formazione%20continua/ Corso%20DACD%20E13%20-%20Fotovoltaico) - Autonomous PV system design (http://www.isaac.supsi.ch/ISAAC/Fotovoltaico/Formazione/Formazione%20continua/ Corso%20DACD%20E27%20- %20Progettazione%20di%20impianti%20fotovoltaici%20collegati%20alla%20rete%2 0e%20autonomi) - PV system design according to the new Swiss standard (http://www.isaac.supsi.ch/ISAAC/Fotovoltaico/Formazione/Formazione%20continua/ Corso%20DACD%20E28%20- %20Progettazione%20di%20impianti%20fotovoltaici%20secondo%20la%20nuova%2 0norma%20svizzera%20SEV%207.12%20NIBT) At NTB (Interstate University of Applied Sciences of Technology Buchs) in Buchs a course on PV is offered in the continuing education programme (http://www.ntb.ch/3866.html). 1.4 Other International Activities There are worldwide numerous training and educational activities involving photovoltaics, and it is beyond the scope of the present paper to try to list them. Here follows just a few hints. In the USA many such activities are found both on a federal and a state level and addressing elementary, middle, high school levels as well as university level and post graduate levels. On the federal level one institution, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) (www.nrel.gov) funded by the Department of Energy can maybe be said to lead educational and training activities in photovoltaics, but there are several such institutions. On the state level e.g. California has implemented PV training and education activities on all levels (www.solarschoolhouse.org; www.californiasolarcenter.org). In Australia the School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering at the University of South Wales (www.pv.unsw.edu.au) is another example of a renowned centre of excellence for education and training in all aspects of PV technology. In countries such as Japan, China and Korea training and education in PV can be found from elementary to post graduate levels in national languages. Version 02 10 PA Energy A/S
