Kurstadt Meran. Unter dieser
Begriffspaarung ist Meran vielen bekannt.
Doch ist das überhaupt noch
zeitgemäß? Kuren hat in unserer
Wahrnehmung mit Krankheit zu
tun, Gesundheit dafür mit Bewegung,
bewusster Ernährung und
Entspannung. Merans Wandlung
zur Gesundheitsstadt steht am Anfang,
schließt aber zweifelsohne an
eine 150-jährige Kurtradition an,
die mit den Meraner Aufenthalten
von Kaiserin Sissi begann und damit
in den Mittelpunkt europäischer
Aufmerksamkeit gerückt wurde.
Das neue Meraner Wahrzeichen
für Wohlbefinden, Entspannung
und Gesundheit ist heute zweifelsohne
die ästhetisch beeindruckende
Therme Meran; die neue Abteilung
Komplementärmedizin am Meraner
Krankenhaus beweist, dass moderne
Medizin auch alternative Wege
sucht. Eingebettet sind diese Strukturen
in eine Region, die von einem
gesunden Lebensstil mit Wäldern
und Wiesen, Seen und Bächen und
damit verbundenen Bewegungsmöglichkeiten
geprägt ist, mit einem
gegensätzlichen, alpin-mediterranen
Klima gesegnet ist und in der von
den Menschen des Landes nachhaltige,
gesunde Lebensmittel erwirtschaftet
und produziert werden.
Die Titelgeschichte ist dieses Mal
drei Charakterköpfen unseres
Landes gewidmet: dem Grenzgänger
Reinhold Messner und seinem
Messner Mountain Museum, dem
streitbaren mittelalterlichen Liederdichter
Oswald von Wolkenstein
und dem leisen, 2010 zum „Europäischen
Jazzmusiker des Jahres“
ernannten Meraner Jazz pianisten
Franco D’Andrea.
Merano città di cura. Un binomio
ben consolidato e noto ai più.
Ma oggigiorno è ancora attuale? La
nostra percezione fa sì che associamo
le cure ad uno stato di malattia,
mentre la salute fa il paio con concetti
come movimento, alimentazione
consapevole e ricupero psicofisico.
Merano come centro di benessere
sta muovendo ora i primi passi,
legata ancora per certi versi ad una
tradizione di città di cura che resiste
da 150 anni, iniziata all’epoca dei
soggiorni meranesi dell’imperatrice
Sissi, quando la città balzò alla
ribalta delle cronache europee.
Ad assurgere oggi a nuovo simbolo
dello starbene, del relax e della
salute è senza dubbio lo straordinario
complesso delle Terme Merano;
lo stesso nuovo reparto di medicina
complementare presso l’ospedale di
Merano dimostra che la medicina
moderna è alla ricerca di percorsi
anche alternativi.
Queste strutture sono incastonate
in una regione permeata da uno
stile di vita sano in mezzo a boschi e
prati, laghi e rii, con conseguenti opportunità
per tenersi in movimento.
L’articolo di copertina questa volta è
dedicato a tre personalità dallo spiccato
carattere, tutte originarie della
nostra provincia: l’alpinista che
sposta i limiti: Reinhold Messner,
con il suo Messner Mountain Museum;
l’agguerrito poeta medievale:
Oswald von Wolkenstein; ed infine
il pianista jazz dal tocco discreto:
Franco D’Andrea, recentemente
nominato a Parigi miglior musicista
Jazz europeo del 2010.

Merano/Meran: a health resort.
A name and reputation that are
well-known to many. But is this still
the case nowadays? It’s true that we
tend to associate spas and the therapies
that go with them with health
problems, while being healthy is associated
with being in shape, having
a balanced diet and being mentally
and physically fit. As a city founded
on its reputation for healthy lifestyles,
thanks mainly to its history of
providing therapies over the last 150
years, starting in the period when
the Austrian Empress Sissi came to
spend her holidays here and the city
was in the European limelight,
Merano is now starting to make
the first moves towards becoming a
modern spa city.
The extraordinary complex that
makes up the Merano Thermal
Baths is most definitely the new
star of the city, offering relaxation,
revitalisation and therapies. There is
also the brand new Complementary
Medicine department at Merano’s
hospital. These complexes are located
at the heart of a region that is
identified by its inhabitants’ healthy
way of life.
The main article of this issue is
dedicated to three special people
with very distinct characters and
who all come from South Tyrol: the
mountaineer who knows no limits,
Reinhold Messner with his Messner
Mountain Museum; the fiery Medieval
poet, Oswald von Wolkenstein;
and the jazz pianist with the delicate
touch, Franco D’Andrea, who
was recently avarded best European
Jazz Musician of 2010 in a ceremony
in Paris.
