gegeben hätte. Mit dem 2011 eingeweihten Bildungscampus
auf dem die stark wachsenden Außenstelle der
Dualen Hochschule Mosbach (DHBW), die German Graduate
School of Management and Law (GGS) und die
Akademie für Innovative Bildung und Management
(aim) eingerichtet wurden, hat die Käthchenstadt bei
den Studentenzahlen deutlich aufgeholt. Der Campus
ergänzt die 1961 als Ingenieurschule gegründete staatliche
Hochschule Heilbronn (HHN). Sie ist die größte
Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften in Baden-
Württemberg. Die enge Kooperation mit Unternehmen
aus der Region und die entsprechende Vernetzung von
Lehre, Forschung und Praxis haben sich in den vergangenen
Jahren als Erfolgsmodell erwiesen.
Auf Initiative der Dieter-Schwarz-Stiftung soll darüber
hinaus die langgehegte Vision, Heilbronn als Wissens-
und Hochschulstadt zu etablieren, schon bald Realität
werden. Die Voraussetzungen dafür sind geschaffen.
Schon jetzt ist die Gesamtzahl der Studenten mit über
6000 seit Einweihung des neuen Hochschul-Campus im
September 2011 deutlich angestiegen. Und die Dieter
Schwarz-Stiftung hat längst noch nicht alle Erweiterungspläne
umgesetzt.
Das Jahrhundert-Projekt Bundesgartenschau 2019
ist ein weiterer Meilenstein für die Stadtentwicklung.
Sie ist Türöffner für den neuen Stadtteil Neckarbogen,
der sich in der Ausgestaltung an den Bedürfnissen der
Menschen des 21. Jahrhunderts orientiert. Bürgerbeteili-
High-Techfirmen und Traditionsunternehmen prägen den Ruf der
Stadt Heilbronn als starker Industriestandort.
In view of investment volumes running into the millions,
it is pointless to ask if the reform of the university
system and the establishment of the Education Campus
with its pioneering architecture and associated science
centre Experimenta could have ever materialized. Since
the inauguration of the Education Campus in 2011 at
the fast-growing branch of the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative
State University Mosbach (DHBW), the opening
of the German Graduate School of Management
and Law (GGS) and the Academy for Innovative Education
and Management AIM, Heilbronn has noticeably
caught up in terms of student figures. The Campus is an
extension of Heilbronn University, which was established
in 1961 as a technical academy. It is Baden-Württemberg’s
largest university for applied sciences. The close cooperation
between regional companies and the respective
networks of teaching, research and practical platforms
has proven successful in every respect.
Thanks to the initiative of the foundation “Dieter-
Schwarz-Stiftung”, the long held vision of making Heilbronn
an academic centre of knowledge will soon become
reality. The groundwork is already in place. The
total number of over 6,000 students since the opening
of the new University Campus in September 2011 marks
a significant increase. And the foundation has not even
completed all its expansion projects.
Bundesgartenschau 2019, Germany’s epic National
Garden Show, is another milestone of urban development.
The show will be the opening event for Heilbronn’s
“Neckarbogen”, a newly set up quarter with innovative
design that is oriented at the needs of the people of the
21st century: Participation of citizens in public life is explicitly
welcomed and vividly taking place.
A different milestone was laid in the industrial zone
“Böllinger Höfe”. With 147,000 jobs at its Neckarsulm
Heilbronn owes its reputation as a strong industrial location to its
many high-tech companies and traditional enterprises.

Ein Meilenstein ganz anderer Natur wurde im Industriegebiet
Böllinger Höfe gelegt. Die Audi AG, mit 14 700
Mitarbeitern am Standort Neckarsulm größter Arbeitgeber
der Region, baut seit Frühjahr 2013 auf Heilbronner
Boden ein neues Produktionsgebäude. Schon bald wird
dort der Sportwagen R8 vom Band laufen. Das kommt
einem Ritterschlag gleich, besonders vor dem Hintergrund
des als schmerzlich empfundenen Umzugs der
Fiat AG 1997 nach Frankfurt/Main.
Markennamen wie Knorr (Unilever), Brunnen,
Beyerdynamic, Campina, Illig oder Bad Reichenhaller
(Südwestdeutsche Salzwerke AG) sind ebenfalls
eng mit Heilbronn verbunden. Zu den Top-Ten der
Gewerbesteuerzahler gehören seit Jahren die EnBW,
die Kreissparkasse Heilbronn, die Intersport eG, die
Zeag Energie AG und das Medienunternehmen
Heilbronner Stimme.
Heilbronn ist aber nicht nur eine wichtige Industriestadt
sondern auch eine bedeutende Weinstadt. „Alles,
was man übersieht, ist fruchtbar. Das nächste sind Weinberge
…“, notierte Johann Wolfgang von Goethe 1797

plant, Audi AG is the region’s largest employer. Presently,
the global player is setting up a new production site
on Heilbronn‘s soil. In the very near future, the new R8
sports car will be leaving the assembly line. This is tantamount
to an accolade, particularly in consideration of
the departure of Fiat AG to Frankfurt/Main in 1997,
generally perceived as a painful loss.
Well-known brand names such as Knorr (Unilever),
Brunnen, Beyerdynamic, Campina, Illig or Bad Reichenhaller
(Südwestdeutsche Salzwerke AG) are closely tied
to Heilbronn. The top ten of the city’s business tax payers
include EnBW, Kreissparkasse Heilbronn, Intersport
AG, Zeag Energie AG and the media enterprise and city’s
voice “Heilbronner Stimme”.
But Heilbronn is not only an important industrial
city; it is also a wine location. „All one overlooks is fruitful.
