entwickelnde interkommunale Gewerbepark Hohenlohe
gegründet. Das 230 Hektar umfassende größte Industriegebiet
des Landkreises, das die Kommunen Künzelsau,
Kupferzell und Waldenburg betreiben,
beherbergt inzwischen über 2000 Arbeitsplätze. Zahlreiche
Künzelsau is probably a globally unique biographical
footnote. The valve, measuring and control technology
sector is another regional cluster. Bürkert, a global industry
leader in fluid control systems with a staff of
2,100, was the hotbed of Fritz Müller, who founded his
company Gemü in Ingelfingen in 1964. With 1,300 employees,
the company is currently the world market leader
in valve, measuring and control technology for the
pharmaceutical and bio-technology industry.
The construction of the German freeways (Autobahn)
was a milestone for the district. Freeway A 6, the
east-west axis to Eastern Europe completed in 1979, and
A 81, built in 1974 as a connector to the North, developed
into lifelines for the region between the rivers
Kocher and Jagst. They connected the dynamic and fast
growing companies and industrial parks to the highway
grid and encouraged the establishment of new companies.
Soon, existing industrial zones ran out of space. In
1990, the expanding intercommunal industrial park
Hohenlohe was founded directly alongside freeway A 6.
With 230 hectares, it is the region’s largest industrial
park and is jointly operated by the communities of Künzelsau,
Kupferzell and Waldenburg. It currently employs
The community of Bretzfeld, located directly by the A6, is the
western gate to the district Hohenlohe.
