surrounded by nothing but the deep blue
sea was a dream shared by millions of
teenage girls back in the 90s – and that
dream will finally come true in 2018. The five
Backstreet Boys (now men) are going on a
cruise – and all their fans can join them when
the Carnival Sensation sets sail from Miami
for Grand Turk, the largest of the Turks
and Caicos Islands, in the Caribbean. For
four days there will be two concerts a day,
themed parties – and maybe even the odd
date with the boys in a hot tub. Backstreet’s
back, alright?

When you think about it, it’s kind of odd
that the six friends in 90s TV show Friends
always met in the same coffee shop. Doesn’t
New York have, well, more than one cafe?
Songwriter brothers Bob and Tobly McSmith
will prove that the smash-hit show’s 236
episodes contain more than enough material
for a parody when they bring Friends the
Musical to the Off-Broadway stage this
autumn. They’ve already used the same
formula to successfully send up Beverly Hills
90210 and Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
Pre-released song titles such as The Only
Coffee Shop in New York City and Hey Ugly
Naked Guy who Lives Across the Street!
indicate that the McSmith brothers know
what they’re doing.

Anyone who’s ever
watched an episode
of Friends knows that
they all drink coffee, all
the time. They knocked
back a grand total of
1,154 cups throughout
all the series, as
one London author
discovered when he
re-watched all episodes
from the start.
Phoebe drank the most
at 227 cups and Rachel
the least at 138 cups.
