done“. The atmosphere at the company quickly became
unsettled. And then when long-serving employees such
as the purchasing manager, logistics manager, sales
manager, production manager, industrial engi neers
and employees from administration, some of whom had
more than 30 years of experience in the branch, were
to be sidelined, the story picked up pace.

Daring step. The “plot“ of the eleven could no longer
be stopped. Following a successful search for an
investor, part of the current company grounds and the
production hall were leased and money was invested
in machines. All 11 invested their private tools and
their manpower after work or during their holidays. Bit
by bit, a new company was created with state-of-theart
production facilities using an investment of around
€ 1,200,000.
The “salesmen“ were the first to quit their jobs at
their previous company. They prepared brochures and
price lists and travelled miles in their private cars to get
orders. “At the beginning they more or less sold “hot
air“, but they were all sure that high-quality products
would be ready for sale 3 months after entry in the
commercial register,“ smiles Christian Götz, production
manager at Citrin Solar in Moosburg.
At one of the many meetings of the 11 to arrange
the founding of the new company, someone had the
idea of using the name of the semi-precious stone citrine
(Citrin in German), which stands for veraciousness and
sense of justice. It is said that this stone promotes the
gift of working for the good of others. Many of the
company founders still have their citrine stone in their
pocket as a lucky charm. Christian Götz continues,
“Erwin Baur, Managing Director of Citrin Solar GmbH,
took his stone out of his pocket only yesterday during
a visit to customers.“
The top driving force in terms of turnover in solar
heat was developed in a private workshop, and following
the test certification of the high-performance flat
plate collector, the Citrin CS 100 F proved itself to be
the top-capacity product in its market segment.
Into the Top Five in only 10 years. Since these beginnings,
Citrin Solar has blossomed into one of the leading
system suppliers in the field of solar and storage
technology, and is now one of the Top Five in the European
