Morrison schrieb folgendes über Gene Vincent:
„His image is of a wild, tough, hedonistic working-class man with a greasy hairdo an
a mean streak who is dangerous with women and cars, a man who runs alone or with
a gang (the band) and insists on doing exactly what he wants- dancing, cruising, and
racing in cars – regardless of girlfriends’ wishes or society’s standards, while consuming
and enjoying society’s material comforts and toys. This appealed to certain
fans, mostly male, the same ones taken by Marlon Brandon in The Wild One. In real
life, bad publicity about his drinking, tax evasion, money problems, and wild life

Gene Vincent brachte das Rebellenimage in die Musik, welches Marlon Brando im
Film `The Wild One’ verkörperte. Das Rebellenimage wird auch heute noch gepflegt
von Neo-Rockabillybands wie the Stray Cats und dem Rockabilly Jungen von Nebenan
in der Kneipe. Bei den Rock’n’Roll Stars war zu dieser Zeit das Macho-Image
sehr verbreitet. Während Elvis Presley in seinem Song „I got a women“ davon sang,
dass der Platz einer Frau zu Hause ist, behauptete Jerry Reed in „I have had enough“
sogar, dass die Frau sein privates Eigentum ist. (Vgl. El-Nawab 2007: e.b.d.)
Eddie Cochran hatte über Frauen auch seine sehr eigene Betrachtungsweise, welche
er in seinem Song „My Way“ präsentierte:
