OPERATOR'S MANUAL FOR THE SYSTEM
3.6.3 LAN/Wireless Connection
Best Medical Canada Ltd also provides an optional solution for establishing wireless
connections in additional treatment rooms via the LAN and Bluetooth Wireless
Transceiver Package, TN-RD-38/40. This accessory allows the mobileMOSFET
Reader Module to be shared amongst multiple rooms by connecting to a PC via a
LAN (Local Area Network) connection.
Figure 3-6: LAN Wireless Connection
The Bluetooth Wireless transceiver supplied is a serial device, however a LAN
connection can be implemented if a Serial Server is connected to the LAN port.
Virtual communications port (COM Port) software (supplied with the TN-RD-38/40)
allows the PC to connect to this COM Port anywhere on the LAN. Best Medical
Canada Ltd has tested and supplies a Vlinx Model ESP901 Ethernet Serial Server.
(Please note that installation may require a LAN administrator to configure the end
user's PC software IP settings.) Note: With virtual COM Port software, some users
experience a delay while the PC searches for COM Ports on the LAN.
Mount the BMC-configured Bluetooth wireless transceiver on an interior wall of the
treatment room. Attach the power supply, then connect the transceiver to the Serial
Server. Next, connect the Serial Server to the LAN and attach the LAN/Wireless
Transceiver's power adapter (See Figure 3-6: LAN Wireless Connection).
The distance between the transceiver and mobileMOSFET as well as the placement
of the transceiver and mobileMOSFET must be as specified in Section 3.6.1.
System/Multiple Treatment Rooms provide examples of possible configurations:
