FOREIGN DONATIONS PROGRAMS These empty bowls-which could spell hunger and despair-here spell satisfaction and health for school children who have enjoyed a simple but nutritious Food for Peace lunch. Under title Illof P.L. 480, over 3 billion pounds of U.S. farm commodities were donated through voluntary U.S. and international agencies during 1965. Title III Donations Section 302 of title III of Public Law 480 authorizes donations of available surplus foods to registered U.S. voluntary relief agencies and to intergovernmental organizations for use in the assistance of needy persons and in nonprofit school lunch programs in friendly countries abroad. Donated foods are made available only after the requiremients of domestic food assistance programs have been met. A sununary of all activities of voluntary agencies under title III may be found in table XXXI. The other participating agencies, with less extensive programs, not listed by name in the table are: American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. American Mission to Greeks. American National Red Cross. American Relief for Poland. Foreign Service Commimttee, Assemblies of God. Hadassah, Inc. Mennonite Central Comimittee.
