Unless otherwise specified, size limits for st<strong>and</strong>ard external tolerance classes 6g <strong>and</strong> 4g6g<br />

apply prior to coating. The external thread allowance may thus be used to accommodate<br />

the coating thickness on coated parts, provided that the maximum coating thickness is no<br />

more than one-quarter of the allowance. Thus, the thread after coating is subject to acceptance<br />

using a basic (tolerance position h) size GO thread gage <strong>and</strong> tolerance position g<br />

thread gage for either minimum material, LO, or NOT-GO. Where the external thread has<br />

no allowance or the allowance must be maintained after coating, <strong>and</strong> for st<strong>and</strong>ard internal<br />
