Game Bird Regulations - Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife

STATE PARKS
Obey all posted areas and safety
zones . Hunting of waterfowl only, unless
otherwise specified, during authorized
seasons is permitted in portions of the
following state parks:
■ Benson State Recreation Area: Dalton
Point, north of I-84, starting 300' east
of the boat ramp running to the eastern
most tip of the property at river mile
134 as posted .
■ Bowers Rock State Park: Waterfowl
hunting permitted .
■ Cottonwood Canyon State Park:
Seasonal hunting of game wildlife
permitted throughout the park; hunting
areas subject to change upon approval
of the Cottonwood Canyon Master Plan .
■ Deschutes River State Recreational
Area: Seasonal hunting of game
wildlife permitted south of the stream
gauge cable crossing line and parallel
extensions of the cable crossing line to
the east and west park boundaries .
■ Elijah Bristow State Park: North of the
main channel of the Middle Fork of the
Willamette River .
■ Fort Stevens State Park: Adjacent
to Trestle Bay as posted during
authorized seasons excluding the
September Canada goose season .
■ Government Island State Recreation
Area: Perimeter of both Government
and Lemon Islands, not above the
mean high water mark as posted .
■ Mayer State Park: Entire Salisbury
Slough area and the pond 800' northwest
of the boat ramp as posted .
■ Rooster Rock State Park: Sand Island
and the bank which runs parallel to
the south of the island, excluding the
September Canada goose season .
■ Starvation Creek State Park: North
of I-84, river mile 159 .6 to 160 .2 as
posted .
■ Succor Creek State Park: Seasonal
hunting of upland game birds is
permitted, except within 500 feet of
camping areas located near the Succor
Creek Bridge and posted safety zones .
■ Willamette Mission State Park: That
portion located on Grand Island in
Yamhill County .
■ Willamette Rvr Greenway Corridor:
Hunting is permitted for deer, upland
birds and waterfowl with shotguns
or bows and arrows only, during
authorized seasons on Willamette Rvr
Greenway parcels, except in those
parcels where hunting is prohibited .

STATE REFUGES
■ Columbia Rvr Refuge from the railroad
bridge at Celilo in Wasco Co to
Arlington is closed to all hunting . The
Columbia Rvr Refuge from Arlington
to 4 .3 mi west of Boardman is open to
pheasant, quail, partridge, waterfowl,
snipe and rabbit hunting with shotgun
and bow with flu-flu arrows only .
■ John Day Rvr Wildlife Refuge
(Sherman and Gilliam cos .) – Includes
all public and private land and water
within 1/4 mi of the John Day Rvr mean
high water line from the Columbia Rvr
upstream to Thirtymile Cr . Within this
area, from the Columbia Rvr upstream
to Rock Cr, the hunting of upland
game birds during authorized seasons
only between Sept . 1 and Oct . 31, but
closed to all waterfowl hunting . The
remaining area from Rock Cr upstream
to Thirtymile Cr is open to hunting of all
game birds during authorized seasons .
Hunting of big game is allowed during
authorized seasons . Hunting on
private lands within this refuge requires
landowner permission .
STATE REFUGE CLOSURES
Hunting is prohibited for the following:
■ Brown’s Island and Minto Island refuges
■ Carlton Lk Refuge
■ Deschutes Rvr Refuge for the first 1/2
mi above the Hwy 30 bridge .
■ Lake Lytle Refuge
■ Metolius Wildlife Refuge located in
the Metolius Unit . All hunting, injuring,
taking, killing, or destroying any wild bird
or mammal on public land is prohibited
on public lands within T12 and T13S,
R9E, bounded by USFS road 1420 and
1419 on the west; road 1400 on the
south and east; and road 1420-400,
Metolius River, and posted boundary
from the Metolius River to road 1400 on
the north (36 CFR 261 .58(v)) .
■ Multnomah-Clackamas Refuge
■ Sturgeon Lk Refuge

AREA INFORMATION
■ Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument:
52,000 acres located southeast of
Ashland, Oregon and administered
by the BLM . Open for all hunting
during authorized seasons . Within the
Monument motorized and mechanized
vehicle use off road is prohibited .
■ Coos Bay (Coos Co): That part of Coos
Bay described as follows is closed to
waterfowl hunting: Beginning on Russell
Point at the north end of Hwy 101 Bridge
Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife
across Coos Bay in Coos Co; west approximately
3/4 of a mi on Parallel 43°26´
to the Southern Pacific Railway to a point
due north of the northeast point of the
North Bend airport; south to the northeast
point of the North Bend airport; southerly
on the west bank of Pony Slough to the
Charleston-North Bend Hwy; east on the
Charleston-North Bend Hwy to the east
bank of Pony Slough; northerly on the
east bank of Pony Slough and Coos Bay
to the south end of the Hwy 101 Bridge;
northerly on the Hwy 101 Bridge to the
point of beginning .
■ Crater Lk National Park (Klamath
Co): Hunting is prohibited within the
boundaries of Crater Lk National Park .

cos): This lake is split by waterfowl
zones . Opening/closing dates may
vary depending on your location . Call

■ Dean Cr Elk Viewing Area (Douglas
Co): All Bureau of Land Management
lands within or adjacent to Township 22S
Range 11W (including Spruce Reach
Island) are closed to hunting . Also,
other lands located with in the following
boundary are closed to hunting during
all elk and deer seasons that pertain to
this area: beginning at the intersection
of Schofield Rd . and Hwy . 38, south on
Schofield Rd . to it’s intersection with Hakki
Ridge Rd ., East on Hakki Ridge Rd . to
the crest of Hakki Ridge, east along the
crest of Hakki Ridge to it’s intersection
with the BLM boundary located in T22S,
R11W Section 4, easterly along the BLM
boundary to Hwy . 38, Hwy, west on 38 to
point of beginning .
■ Devils Lk (Lincoln Co): Closed to all
game bird hunting .
■ Eckman Lk (Lincoln Co): A Co
ordinance prohibits the firing or discharge
of any bow and arrow, air rifle, or firearm
on or within 150 feet of the lake .
■ Gold Island (Malheur Co): An island in
the Snake Rvr, three mi south of Nyssa .
Pheasant season begins October 20 .
■ John Day Fossil Beds National
Monument (Grant/Wheeler cos):
Hunting is prohibited within the boundaries
of the John Day Fossil Beds National

■ Lower Klamath Hills Regulated Hunt
Area: Located 10 mi south of Klamath
Falls . The area is open 7 days-a-week
and is administered cooperatively by
BLM and ODFW . A year-round rd
