STATE PARKS<br />

Obey all posted areas <strong>and</strong> safety<br />

zones . Hunting <strong>of</strong> waterfowl only, unless<br />

otherwise specified, during authorized<br />

seasons is permitted in portions <strong>of</strong> the<br />

following state parks:<br />

■ Benson State Recreation Area: Dalton<br />

Point, north <strong>of</strong> I-84, starting 300' east<br />

<strong>of</strong> the boat ramp running to the eastern<br />

most tip <strong>of</strong> the property at river mile<br />

134 as posted .<br />

■ Bowers Rock State Park: Waterfowl<br />

hunting permitted .<br />

■ Cottonwood Canyon State Park:<br />

Seasonal hunting <strong>of</strong> game wildlife<br />

permitted throughout the park; hunting<br />

areas subject to change upon approval<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Cottonwood Canyon Master Plan .<br />

■ Deschutes River State Recreational<br />

Area: Seasonal hunting <strong>of</strong> game<br />

wildlife permitted south <strong>of</strong> the stream<br />

gauge cable crossing line <strong>and</strong> parallel<br />

extensions <strong>of</strong> the cable crossing line to<br />

the east <strong>and</strong> west park boundaries .<br />

■ Elijah Bristow State Park: North <strong>of</strong> the<br />

main channel <strong>of</strong> the Middle Fork <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Willamette River .<br />

■ Fort Stevens State Park: Adjacent<br />

to Trestle Bay as posted during<br />

authorized seasons excluding the<br />

September Canada goose season .<br />

■ Government Isl<strong>and</strong> State Recreation<br />

Area: Perimeter <strong>of</strong> both Government<br />

<strong>and</strong> Lemon Isl<strong>and</strong>s, not above the<br />

mean high water mark as posted .<br />

■ Mayer State Park: Entire Salisbury<br />

Slough area <strong>and</strong> the pond 800' northwest<br />

<strong>of</strong> the boat ramp as posted .<br />

■ Rooster Rock State Park: S<strong>and</strong> Isl<strong>and</strong><br />

<strong>and</strong> the bank which runs parallel to<br />

the south <strong>of</strong> the isl<strong>and</strong>, excluding the<br />

September Canada goose season .<br />

■ Starvation Creek State Park: North<br />

<strong>of</strong> I-84, river mile 159 .6 to 160 .2 as<br />

posted .<br />

■ Succor Creek State Park: Seasonal<br />

hunting <strong>of</strong> upl<strong>and</strong> game birds is<br />

permitted, except within 500 feet <strong>of</strong><br />

camping areas located near the Succor<br />

Creek Bridge <strong>and</strong> posted safety zones .<br />

■ Willamette Mission State Park: That<br />

portion located on Gr<strong>and</strong> Isl<strong>and</strong> in<br />

Yamhill County .<br />

■ Willamette Rvr Greenway Corridor:<br />

Hunting is permitted for deer, upl<strong>and</strong><br />

birds <strong>and</strong> waterfowl with shotguns<br />

or bows <strong>and</strong> arrows only, during<br />

authorized seasons on Willamette Rvr<br />

Greenway parcels, except in those<br />

parcels where hunting is prohibited .<br />

STaTE aND FEDEral rEFUgE arEa rEgUlaTiONS<br />

STATE REFUGES<br />

■ Columbia Rvr Refuge from the railroad<br />

bridge at Celilo in Wasco Co to<br />

Arlington is closed to all hunting . The<br />

Columbia Rvr Refuge from Arlington<br />

to 4 .3 mi west <strong>of</strong> Boardman is open to<br />

pheasant, quail, partridge, waterfowl,<br />

snipe <strong>and</strong> rabbit hunting with shotgun<br />

<strong>and</strong> bow with flu-flu arrows only .<br />

■ John Day Rvr <strong>Wildlife</strong> Refuge<br />

(Sherman <strong>and</strong> Gilliam cos .) – Includes<br />

all public <strong>and</strong> private l<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> water<br />

within 1/4 mi <strong>of</strong> the John Day Rvr mean<br />

high water line from the Columbia Rvr<br />

upstream to Thirtymile Cr . Within this<br />

area, from the Columbia Rvr upstream<br />

to Rock Cr, the hunting <strong>of</strong> upl<strong>and</strong><br />

game birds during authorized seasons<br />

only between Sept . 1 <strong>and</strong> Oct . 31, but<br />

closed to all waterfowl hunting . The<br />

remaining area from Rock Cr upstream<br />

to Thirtymile Cr is open to hunting <strong>of</strong> all<br />

game birds during authorized seasons .<br />

Hunting <strong>of</strong> big game is allowed during<br />

authorized seasons . Hunting on<br />

private l<strong>and</strong>s within this refuge requires<br />

l<strong>and</strong>owner permission .<br />

STATE REFUGE CLOSURES<br />

Hunting is prohibited for the following:<br />

■ Brown’s Isl<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> Minto Isl<strong>and</strong> refuges<br />

■ Carlton Lk Refuge<br />

■ Deschutes Rvr Refuge for the first 1/2<br />

mi above the Hwy 30 bridge .<br />

■ Lake Lytle Refuge<br />

■ Metolius <strong>Wildlife</strong> Refuge located in<br />

the Metolius Unit . All hunting, injuring,<br />

taking, killing, or destroying any wild bird<br />

or mammal on public l<strong>and</strong> is prohibited<br />

on public l<strong>and</strong>s within T12 <strong>and</strong> T13S,<br />

R9E, bounded by USFS road 1420 <strong>and</strong><br />

1419 on the west; road 1400 on the<br />

south <strong>and</strong> east; <strong>and</strong> road 1420-400,<br />

Metolius River, <strong>and</strong> posted boundary<br />

from the Metolius River to road 1400 on<br />

the north (36 CFR 261 .58(v)) .<br />

■ Multnomah-Clackamas Refuge<br />

■ Sturgeon Lk Refuge<br />

AREA INFORMATION<br />

■ Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument:<br />

52,000 acres located southeast <strong>of</strong><br />

Ashl<strong>and</strong>, <strong>Oregon</strong> <strong>and</strong> administered<br />

by the BLM . Open for all hunting<br />

during authorized seasons . Within the<br />

Monument motorized <strong>and</strong> mechanized<br />

vehicle use <strong>of</strong>f road is prohibited .<br />

■ Coos Bay (Coos Co): That part <strong>of</strong> Coos<br />

Bay described as follows is closed to<br />

waterfowl hunting: Beginning on Russell<br />

Point at the north end <strong>of</strong> Hwy 101 Bridge<br />

<strong>Oregon</strong> <strong>Department</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Fish</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Wildlife</strong><br />

across Coos Bay in Coos Co; west approximately<br />

3/4 <strong>of</strong> a mi on Parallel 43°26´<br />

to the Southern Pacific Railway to a point<br />

due north <strong>of</strong> the northeast point <strong>of</strong> the<br />

North Bend airport; south to the northeast<br />

point <strong>of</strong> the North Bend airport; southerly<br />

on the west bank <strong>of</strong> Pony Slough to the<br />

Charleston-North Bend Hwy; east on the<br />

Charleston-North Bend Hwy to the east<br />

bank <strong>of</strong> Pony Slough; northerly on the<br />

east bank <strong>of</strong> Pony Slough <strong>and</strong> Coos Bay<br />

to the south end <strong>of</strong> the Hwy 101 Bridge;<br />

northerly on the Hwy 101 Bridge to the<br />

point <strong>of</strong> beginning .<br />

■ Crater Lk National Park (Klamath<br />

Co): Hunting is prohibited within the<br />

boundaries <strong>of</strong> Crater Lk National Park .<br />

■ Davis Lk (Deschutes <strong>and</strong> Klamath<br />

cos): This lake is split by waterfowl<br />

zones . Opening/closing dates may<br />

vary depending on your location . Call<br />

Crescent Ranger District for access<br />

■ Dean Cr Elk Viewing Area (Douglas<br />

Co): All Bureau <strong>of</strong> L<strong>and</strong> Management<br />

l<strong>and</strong>s within or adjacent to Township 22S<br />

Range 11W (including Spruce Reach<br />

Isl<strong>and</strong>) are closed to hunting . Also,<br />

other l<strong>and</strong>s located with in the following<br />

boundary are closed to hunting during<br />

all elk <strong>and</strong> deer seasons that pertain to<br />

this area: beginning at the intersection<br />

<strong>of</strong> Sch<strong>of</strong>ield Rd . <strong>and</strong> Hwy . 38, south on<br />

Sch<strong>of</strong>ield Rd . to it’s intersection with Hakki<br />

Ridge Rd ., East on Hakki Ridge Rd . to<br />

the crest <strong>of</strong> Hakki Ridge, east along the<br />

crest <strong>of</strong> Hakki Ridge to it’s intersection<br />

with the BLM boundary located in T22S,<br />

R11W Section 4, easterly along the BLM<br />

boundary to Hwy . 38, Hwy, west on 38 to<br />

point <strong>of</strong> beginning .<br />

■ Devils Lk (Lincoln Co): Closed to all<br />

game bird hunting .<br />

■ Eckman Lk (Lincoln Co): A Co<br />

ordinance prohibits the firing or discharge<br />

<strong>of</strong> any bow <strong>and</strong> arrow, air rifle, or firearm<br />

on or within 150 feet <strong>of</strong> the lake .<br />

■ Gold Isl<strong>and</strong> (Malheur Co): An isl<strong>and</strong> in<br />

the Snake Rvr, three mi south <strong>of</strong> Nyssa .<br />

Pheasant season begins October 20 .<br />

■ John Day Fossil Beds National<br />

Monument (Grant/Wheeler cos):<br />

Hunting is prohibited within the boundaries<br />

<strong>of</strong> the John Day Fossil Beds National<br />

■ Lower Klamath Hills Regulated Hunt<br />

Area: Located 10 mi south <strong>of</strong> Klamath<br />

Falls . The area is open 7 days-a-week<br />

<strong>and</strong> is administered cooperatively by<br />

BLM <strong>and</strong> ODFW . A year-round rd<br />
