Sept . 8 and 9 are designated for Youth Upland Bird Hunt program (see page 22) . A Western Oregon Fee Pheasant Hunt Permit is required for pheasant hunting from Sept . 10 - Oct . 7 (see page 14) . Oct. 8 - Nov. 16: Closed to all entry . Nov. 17 - Jan. 26: Open only for waterfowl hunting by reservation permit on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays until 1:00 p .m . Closed to all public access at 2:00 p .m . Reminder: Successful applicants must purchase their reservation permit before arriving at the WA . Licensing documents are not available at the WA . Permit holders must have in their possession a valid reservation permit to check into the area . Check-in and blind selection will be held 1-1/2 hours before shooting time (see page 13) . Permit holders not present at check-in time forfeit their permit for the day . A free drawing for stand-by hunters will be held at the same time to fill blinds left vacant by permit holders who do not arrive for the hunt . Hunters must check in at a check station trailer located at Nielson Rd parking lot . Permit holder may be accompanied by one guest . Nov . 24 and Dec . 26 are reserved for youth waterfowl hunters only . See Youth Hunts on page 22 and Reservation Application Procedures, page 37 . Jan. 27 - Apr. 30: Open to public use on Saturdays . Closed to all public access Sunday through Friday . Hunting and the discharge of firearms is prohibited . ■ Fisher Butte and Royal Amazon Units and Royal Avenue: Located north of Hwy 126 (West 11th Avenue) and south of the Amazon creek channel . Royal Avenue and the marked 34 trails to viewing platforms accessible from the Royal Ave and Hwy 126 parking lots will remain open to public use daily, year-round . Designated road and trail use only during periods of unit closures . Hunting is allowed during the dates and time specified below . May 1 – Oct. 7: Open to public use daily; open to hunting during authorized game bird and game mammal seasons . A free daily hunting permit is required . Sept . 8 and 19 are designated for Youth Upland Bird Hunt program (see page 22) . Western Oregon Fee Pheasant Hunt permit is required for pheasant hunting from Sept . 10 to Oct . 7 (see page 14) . Canada Goose Season . Jan. 28 – Oct. 12: Open to public use daily and open to hunting during authorized game bird and game mammal seasons . Oct. 13 – Jan. 27: Open to public use daily . Open to hunting during duck season only on Saturdays, Sundays, Wednesdays and holidays including Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Veterans’ Day and Martin Luther King, Jr . Day . ■ All Other Units at Fern Ridge WA including Fern Ridge Lake: Open to public use daily and open to hunting during authorized game bird and game mammal seasons . Reminder: Area is closed to all goose hunting except for Sept . Canada goose season . Lane Co . and U .S . Army Corps of Engineers parks are closed to hunting and the discharge of firearms . KLAMATH Located six mi south of Klamath Falls between Hwy 97 and the Klamath Rvr which forms the western boundary . The area contains 2,400 acres in the Miller Island Unit . In addition to this area, there are 3 outlying units: Gorr Island, Shoal- water Bay and Sesti Tgawaals, which contain an additional 990 acres . Effective Jan . 1, 2013, a Wildlife Area Parking Permit is required to park on the WA (see page 26) . For hunter advisory information, please see page 26 . Gorr Island is located four mi south of the Miller Island Unit in the Klamath Rvr and is only accessible by boat . Shoalwater Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife Bay and Sesti Tgawaals are both located on the west side of Upper Klamath Lk approximately 10 mi to the north and west of Klamath Falls . In addition to general state and federal laws the following regulations apply to the area: ■ No person shall possess or use any shot other than federally-approved nontoxic shot at any time, except for big game hunters using buckshot . ■ Gorr Island, Shoalwater Bay and Sesti Tgawaals: Open for public use daily . No permit required and open for hunting daily during authorized hunting seasons . ■ Miller Island Unit: Effective Jan .1, 2013, a Wildlife Area Parking Permit is required to park on the WA (see page 26) . Open for public use from May 1 – Jan . 31 . From February 1 – Apr . 30 public use is restricted to public roads and parking lots to minimize disturbance to migrating waterfowl . Open for hunting during authorized game bird seasons . The Miller Island Unit is closed to all deer hunting . This area is divided into three subunits: A, B and C . Check in is required daily during all authorized seasons beginning Sept . 1 . Entry permits shall be in possession while in the field; checkout is required . The check station is located under the area light on Miller Island Rd . The check station is staffed by ODFW personnel in the mornings from Oct . 6- Nov . 30, and is a self-service station in the afternoons and all day after Nov . 30 . Hunting dates for Miller Island will be all days in Sept . except Sept . 8-9, which are reserved for youth upland hunters, and Sept . 22-23 which are reserved for youth waterfowl hunters (see page 22), Oct . 6*, 7*, 9, 11, 13*, 15, 17, 21*, 23, 27, 29, 31, even-numbered days in Nov . and Dec ., and odd-numbered days in Jan . *Reservation hunting is in effect . All hunters must have in their possession a valid reservation permit to check into the area . See Reservation Application Procedures on page 37 . Oct . 21 is reserved for youth hunters in subunits A and B only . Subunit C is open to all hunters on a first come, first served basis . See page 41 . The check station opens 1-1/2 hours before shooting time (see page 13) . All reservation holders must check in at least 1/2 hour before waterfowl shooting time . Upland game bird shooting hours are from 8 a .m . until the close of waterfowl shooting hours . Reminder: Successful applicants must purchase their reservation permit before arriving at the WA . Licensing documents are not available at the WA . Throughout the pheasant season a pheasant release program will occur . These birds have been donated by Unlimited Pheasants and will be released into subunits A, B, and C . During the first week of pheasant season, pheasants will (continued on next page)
only be released in Subunit C on the Miller Island Unit . After Oct . 11, pheasant will be released in all three subunits of the Miller Island Unit . » Subunit A: North of Miller Island Rd and east of Delameter Rd hunting is permitted until 1 p .m . through Nov . 30 . From Oct . 6 - Nov . 30, hunter numbers will be limited to 35 at any one time . After Nov . 30, hunting is allowed on hunt days with a self-service permit available at a check station located on Miller Island Rd . West . » Subunit B: West of Delameter and Miller Island rds hunting is permitted until 1 p .m . through Nov . 30 . From Oct . 6 - Nov . 30 hunter numbers will be limited to 35 at any one time . After Nov . 30, hunting is allowed on hunt days with a self-service permit available at a check station located on Miller Island Rd . West . » Subunit C: East and south of Miller Island Rd hunting is permitted all day . From Oct . 6 - Nov . 30 hunter numbers will be limited to 35 until 1 p .m . After 1 p .m . hunting is allowed with a self-service permit available at a check station located on Miller Island Rd, West . After Nov . 30, hunting is allowed on hunt days with a self-service permit available at a check station located on Miller Island Rd . West . LADD MARSH Located five mi south of La Grande in Union Co, big game and game bird hunting is allowed according to specific regulations listed below . A Wildlife Area Parking Permit is required to park on the WA (see page 26) . Phone: 541-963- 4954 . In addition to general state and federal laws, the following apply to Ladd Marsh Wildlife Area: » Area is closed between 10 p .m . and 4 a .m . » Leaving decoys set out overnight is prohibited (10 p .m . - 4 a .m .) . » Non-motorized boats are permitted . » Posted refuge areas are closed to all entry during authorized hunting seasons, except to retrieve lawfully taken wildlife or by permit . » Discharge of firearms is prohibited in refuge areas . » Camping is prohibited . » No person shall possess or use any shot other than federally-approved nontoxic shot at any time, except for big game hunters using buckshot . (See Big Game Regulations for details) . » An entry permit is required at all times except during authorized hunting seasons . All portions of the area are open to hunting on Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays and the following holidays, Veteran’s Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas, New Year’s Day and Martin Luther King Day, State/Federal during the pheasant, quail, partridge and Wildlife waterfowl Areas seasons with the following Pages exceptions: 26-32 East of Foothill Rd: » Hunting for big game is prohibited, except for youth deer hunters 652T1 and 652T2 . » Access to wetlands designated for wastewater treatment is prohibited . » Dogs are prohibited except during authorized area game bird hunts . West of Foothill Rd: » Open to public access (foot and horseback only) and hunting during authorized seasons from Apr . 1 - Jan . 31 . » Open for dog training Aug . 1 until the opening of pheasant season . East of Peach Rd: » Auto route and hiking trails open as posted between Mar . 1 and Sept . 30 . Peach Rd Fishing Area: » Area open as posted . See current Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations . SAUVIE ISLAND Located 10 mi north of Portland off Hwy 30 . The area provides waterfowl and upland bird hunting . The WA includes Westside, Eastside, Oak Island and North units and the Columbia Rvr Beach area . Maps are available at check stations and the WA Headquarters (18330 NW Sauvie Island Rd) . Willow Bar parking lot is located at the Multnomah-Columbia Co line on Reeder Rd . Portions of Sauvie Island WA are closed to all entry during waterfowl season except when in possession of a valid hunting permit from Oct . 1 - Apr . 30 . Phone: 503-621-3488 . In addition to general state and federal laws, the following regulations also apply to all ODFW lands on Sauvie Island, including Gilbert Rvr and Sturgeon Lk . » The WA is closed from 10 p .m . to 4 a .m . daily . » All vehicles parking on the area are required to display a valid WA parking permit . » Use of rifles and handguns is prohibited at all times . » No person shall possess or use any shot other than federally-approved nontoxic shot at any time . » Operation of boats in Sturgeon Lk Refuge is prohibited from Oct . 1- Apr . 15 . Operating boats over 5 mi per hour is prohibited on all area lks . Sturgeon Lk Refuge is closed to all hunting year-round . » The Columbia Rvr Drainage District Dike is closed to all hunting . » Closed to hunting of furbearers, predators, unprotected and protected wildlife (except black-tailed deer, rabbit, crow, Eurasian collared-dove, and game birds) . HUNTING PROGRAM ■ Youth Hunting: See page 22 for youth hunting opportunities . ■ Fee Pheasant Hunt: Check in and out at Willow Bar and Eastside self-service check stations . See page 14 for details . From Sept . 17-30, all game bird hunters are required to have in possession a fee pheasant tag, HIP validation and an upland game bird stamp validation to hunt in the area . All bird hunting ends at 6 p .m . ODFW dated permits available at Willow Bar and Eastside self-service check stations only . ■ Mourning and Eurasian Collared Dove Hunting: Hunting is permitted during the statewide mourning dove season . Hunters must check in and out daily at self-service check stations located at the WA Headquarters, the Willow Bar parking lot off Reeder Rd, or the North Unit parking lot . No hunting is allowed in posted refuge areas including Sturgeon Lk and North Oak Island . ■ Goose Hunting: The WA, with exception of the Eastside Units during youth pheasant hunt and North Oak Island Refuge, and Sturgeon Lk Refuge, is open during Sept . Canada goose season (page 16 for details) . Hunters must check in and out daily at self-service check stations located at the WA Headquarters, the Willow Bar parking lot off Reeder Rd and North Unit parking lot . The area is closed to all other goose hunting . Duck, Pheasant, Snipe, Quail, Crow, and Rabbit Hunting: Specific regulations are as follows: ■ Pheasant: In the Eastside, Oak Island and Westside Hunt Areas, pheasant hunting is closed Oct . 6 - 12 . For the period of Oct . 15 - Dec . 31, shooting dates are listed under waterfowl reservation hunts (pages 38 - 41) . Pheasant hunters in these hunt areas must check in and out at the Eastside/Oak Island check station or the Westside check station on specified hunt days . The North Unit is open to pheasant hunting everyday of the authorized season . ■ Quail: For the period of Sept . 1-30, hunters must follow the procedures as described in the dove hunting section . During the Fee Pheasant Hunt, hunters must follow that season’s procedures . Quail hunting is closed from Oct . 1 until the opening of General Waterfowl Season in the Westside Units and in the Eastside Units from the end of the Western Oregon Fee Pheasant Hunt until the opening of General Waterfowl Season . For the period of Oct . 13 - Jan . 27, shooting dates are listed under waterfowl reservation hunts (pages 38- 41) . Persons wishing to hunt quail must check in and out at the Eastside/Oak Island check station or the Westside check station on specific hunt days . ■ Rabbit: For the period of Sept . 1 - Jan . 31, 2013, rabbit hunting is allowed in the North Unit .
