Rusa deer Cervus timorensis Single record in the Atlas <strong>of</strong> NSW Wildlife from 2008 that was<br />

photographed and has been subsequently identified as a young<br />

red deer. Misidentification.<br />

Little pied bat Chalinolobus picatus Listed in Eddison (2008). Not found in the extensive trapping<br />

and ultrasound survey. Likely misidentification <strong>of</strong> the related<br />

and similar looking large-eared pied bat. May possibly occur as<br />

vagrant or rare visitor.<br />

Little bentwing-bat Miniopterus australis Listed in Eddison (2008). Not found in the extensive trapping<br />

and ultrasound survey. Likely misidentification <strong>of</strong> the related<br />

and similar looking eastern bentwing-bat. May possibly occur<br />

as vagrant or rare visitor.<br />

Scotorepens balstoni Listed in Eddison (2008). Not found in the extensive trapping<br />

and ultrasound survey. Likely misidentification <strong>of</strong> the related<br />

and similar looking eastern broad-nosed bat. May possibly<br />

occur as vagrant or rare visitor.<br />

Listed in Eddison (2008). This species name no longer exists<br />

and has been revised into Mormopterus sp 3. and M. sp. 4,<br />

however neither have been recorded in JKCR despite ample<br />

bat trapping. <strong>The</strong> closely related M. sp. 2 was trapped in the<br />

recent surveys and it is likely that this earlier record is also this<br />

species.<br />

Southern myotis Myotis macropus Unconfirmed. Only known from two ‘probable’ records from<br />

ultrasound recordings via the same consultant. Requires<br />

confirmation<br />

4.2 FAUNA SPECIES INVENTORY<br />

A total <strong>of</strong> 235 native vertebrate fauna species are currently known from the reserve. This total<br />

comprises <strong>of</strong> 11 frogs, 31 reptiles, 140 native birds and 51 native mammals. In addition, 2 introduced<br />

birds and 11 introduced mammals have been confirmed to occur within the reserve.<br />

Table 7 presents the total numbers <strong>of</strong> native, threatened and introduced fauna species recorded in<br />

JKCR. A complete list <strong>of</strong> all terrestrial vertebrate fauna species known to occur in JKCR is provided in<br />

Appendix A.<br />
