DRR Annual Progress Report 2010, Vol.1 – Varietal Improvement
Two cultures which surpassed the best check – local in yield were promoted to AVT-2E-TP.
These include IET 21626 (CR-2699) and IET 21630 (CR 2707) with the latter culture also having
desirable grain quality parameters. IET 21626 has moderate resistance to sheath blight and WBPH
while IET 21630 has moderate resistance to WBPH. One hybrid IET 21401 (25P25) was also
promoted based on its superior performance in R5 over both the hybrid and best varietal check.
Good progress was achieved in IVT-E-TP. Of the 45 entries tested 4 and 16 cultures were
promoted based on the overall and regional superiority respectively over the best check. The most
promising ones include IET 22080 (RP 5124-11-6-2-IR 838876-B-F3 Bulk), IET 22057 (UPR 3425-
14-3-1), IET 22081 (RP 5127-9-3-IR-93376-B-B-130) and IET 22069 (T 05091). IET 22081 has
resistance to gallmidge biotype 5.
