Who could ever think that gracilaria locally known<br />
as guraman can be cooked like your typical pancit<br />
guisado? The dish is not just as savory as your<br />
favorite pansit but way more nutritious. Gracilaria<br />
like many other edible seaweeds, are packed with<br />
vitamins <strong>and</strong> minerals such as iodine, fi ber, vitamins<br />
A, C, E, B1, B2, B12, K, niacin, potassium, calcium,<br />
zinc <strong>and</strong> folic acid. The seaweed can also be used<br />
as base material for fl an, chips, as well as a number<br />
<strong>of</strong> local dishes. Photos show seaweed promo in<br />

Under agribusiness <strong>and</strong> marketing, the bureau<br />
has assisted the San Jose Fisherfolk Association <strong>of</strong><br />
San Jose, Gonzaga, in the preparation <strong>of</strong> feasibility<br />
study relative to their payao (2 units) project from<br />
the Department <strong>of</strong> Labor <strong>and</strong> Employment.<br />
In addition, the bureau has also held 12 market<br />
matching activities, matching 21 producers to<br />
prospective buyers or market. The market matching<br />
activity, include the search for buyers <strong>of</strong> rice eels,<br />
which has been wreaking havoc in rice farms <strong>and</strong><br />
fi shponds mainly in the province <strong>of</strong> Quirino <strong>and</strong><br />
some parts <strong>of</strong> Nueva Vizcaya.<br />
The agency, thru its agribusiness section, renders<br />
free assistance to loan applicants, specifi cally in the<br />
preparation <strong>of</strong> the technical (fi shery) aspects in a<br />
project proposal or full blown feasibility study, if<br />
need be. Loans for fi shery projects can be accessed<br />
at government credit facilities like Agricultural<br />
Credit Enhancement Facility (ACEF), <strong>and</strong> <strong>Fisheries</strong><br />
Financing Program (FFP), aside from those <strong>of</strong>fered<br />
by private lending institutions.<br />
The agency has also participated in several agriaqua<br />
fairs <strong>and</strong> festivals as part <strong>of</strong> agribusiness <strong>and</strong><br />
promotions, as follows:<br />
