Fish health Laboratory and Fish Processing Laboratory
BFAR
The bureau maintained 2 fish health
laboratories, one at BFAR CVROSFR in San Mateo,
Isabela and the other at BFAR Regional Office in
Tuguegarao City. The fish health laboratory in
Tuguegarao rendered services as follows:
In station:
l 17 walk-in clients assisted
l 39 water samples analyzed
l 19 fish samples analyzed
l 2 ornamental fish samples analyzed
On field:
l 110 water samples analyzed, these are from
Cagayan River and tributaries, fishponds,
SWIPs, and Fish tank
l 15 clients assisted
l 11 fish samples analyzed
l 4 shrimp samples analyzed

Aquatic animal Disease Surveillance, Monitoring
and Control
l 21 disease monitoring activity in municipalities
l 2 samples analyzed
Fish kill monitoring and Investigation
l 18 clients assisted
l 2 fish samples analyzed
l 34 water samples analyzed
l 17 fishponds assisted
Residue Monitoring and Surveillance:
l residue monitoring in 5 municipalities
l 5 samples submitted to Central Office for
analysis
Microbial Analysis:
l 8 samples (smoked fish) analyzed
The Regional Fish Health Laboratory also
maintained Seaweed Culture laboratory wherein
it has outplanted 26 samples of tissue cultured
Kappaphychus, and 30 branch cultured Gracilaria:
Botika Para sa Taumbayan
The BFAR RO2 in partnership with the Civil
Service Commission and Department of Health,
has opened last November the Botika Para
sa Taumbayan (BpT) with the aim to provide
affordable medicines to BFAR employees as well
as residents nearby. The drugstore is located
within the compound of the BFAR RO2. The
BpT as the drugstore is called aims to promote
equity in health by ensuring the availability and
accessibility of affordable, safe and effective
quality drugs to all.
