13.5 CAMPING
BACKGROUND
Some overnight visitors to the Dryandra Woodland are seeking an overnight outdoor experience that
is not catered for at the Settlement accommodation complex (CALM 1992c). Although no area has
been formally designated, camping does occur within Dryandra.
Camping can be broadly categorised into vehicle-based camping at designated locations, and that
associated with backpacking. Vehicle-based camping areas are usually established at selected
locations and site-hardened to sustain the increased level of use. Backpacking is associated with walk
tracks and routes, and usually only involves an overnight stay in any one area. Such camping is not
allowed within the vicinity of designated recreation areas or major roads, and fires are not permitted.
