Mechanical Watches
to Get You Started.
High quality doesn’t have to be high priced.
For many people, a watch is a watch, a
necessity, something to simply tell the time.
For those who understand how and why a
mechanical watch works, a finer timepiece is
something completely different.
automatic, relies on a mainspring to provide the power
to run. Like an old-fashioned wind-up toy, you have to
wind your watch; but unlike the toy that whizzes across
a mechanical watch is controlling and regulating the
energy in the mainspring over the course of hours and
days. Every mechanical watch is really an amazing
feat of engineering and miniaturization. The simplest
movement has over 100 parts, while the most complicated
watches can have more than 1,000.
Introducing new people into fine watchmaking
is a tough business, however, as many people don’t
understand why anyone would pay more than the bare
minimum for a watch. But, once you understand the
