his tips for the perfect holiday pic
■ Snap away To ensure you’ve got a great
shot and you've captured any differences
in expression, light and composition, take
plenty of photos – the joy of a digital camera.
■ Change position Move around, shooting
from various angles and heights for different
creative perspectives. For example, when
taking photos of children on the beach, try
shooting them from sand level up.
■ Experiment Make the most of your
camera’s technology and features. Try out
panoramas; modes such as sport, snow,
landscape and black and white; long
exposures for waterfalls; and city night
shots using a tripod.
■ Flash When taking pictures of people
with sunlight behind them, try using the
fl ash so their faces aren’t in shadow.
■ Underexpose To avoid a washed-out
looking sky, underexpose the shot a little to
make the sky darker and use the fl ash to
light up the foreground. Clouds are great
– they add drama to the photo.
■ Use colour Bright hues can really make
photographs come to life, so look to include
colourful features, clothing and items.
■ Be creative Experiment with composition.
Try shooting through objects, and look out
for interesting and unusual backgrounds.
■ Be save savvy Protect your memories
by backing up your work as soon as you can
to your computer, and maybe also a free
database website.
■ Be prepared Don’t forget to take extra
batteries, memory cards, tripods, additional
lenses and your charger – with an adaptor
that's suitable for your destination.
