Custom-made control system – complete quality control<br />
The control system for such a highly-complex production line<br />
plays an important role. The Finnish customer made great<br />
demands on <strong>Siempelkamp</strong> regarding such a system.<br />
The control system is divided into several levels. The PLC machine<br />
controller ensures the functional sequence of all machines,<br />
records the process data for the adjustment of the plant parameters<br />
and the production values for the determination of<br />
cutting lengths and stack sizes.<br />
With an ERP system, the customer develops the upcoming production<br />
list including all data concerning raw material, product<br />
and customer. This information is transferred to an SQL database<br />
which handles the data exchange. According to this data,<br />
<strong>Siempelkamp</strong> machinery retrieves the corresponding mineral<br />
wool from storage, adjusts the glue application machine, the<br />
heating system of the double belt and many other process<br />
parameters which are stored in recipe databases.<br />

When the production of one batch is completed, the actually<br />
produced product parameters are recorded to the database. At<br />
the same time, a number of other information about the production<br />
is put into the database including the measured process<br />
values regarding the temperature, pressure, glue amounts, and<br />
