QUIÑONES-
HINOJOSA, MD

A globally renowned neurosurgeon and
researcher, Alfredo Quiñones-Hinojosa,
MD, started his life in the United States
as an undocumented immigrant. At the
age of 19, he risked his life by jumping a
border fence from Mexico into the
United States. Quiñones-Hinojosa
made his way to California where he
worked as a cotton picker, painter, and
welder. He earned a scholarship to the
University of California-Berkeley and
went on to graduate from Harvard
Medical School with honors. Today he
is a professor and director of the
Pituitary Tumor Center at Johns
Hopkins Hospital. He performs nearly
250 brain operations a year and has
been featured on CNN Heroes and
National Public Radio, and in The New
York Times. Quiñones-Hinojosa will
sign copies of his book Becoming Dr. Q
immediately after the plenary.

Cultural Event: The City Museum
Explore the unexpected! Consisting largely
of repurposed architectural and industrial
objects, City Museum is an eclectic mixture
of funhouse, surrealistic pavilion, and
architectural marvel. Visitors are
encouraged to feel, touch, climb on, and
play in the various exhibits.
Fee: $75 per person; includes round-trip
transportation from the convention center
(departing at 6:45 p.m.), admission to
museum, food stations, entertainment;
cash bars. Tickets not available on site;
