Chapter 5: Performing an <strong>OpenEdge</strong> <strong>Installation</strong> on UNIX or Linux<br />

Uninstalling <strong>OpenEdge</strong> Replication<br />

<strong>OpenEdge</strong> Replication provides a utility to properly uninstall the product.<br />

To uninstall <strong>OpenEdge</strong> Replication:<br />

1. Enter the following comm<strong>and</strong> from your <strong>OpenEdge</strong> Replication /bin directory:<br />

./repl_unglue<br />

The following warning appears:<br />

WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING<br />

The Replication unglue script will disassociate the Progress product<br />

version previoulsy associated with the installation of Replication on this<br />

machine. Choosing to do so will result in Replication not being able to<br />

run on this machine, do you wish to continue? [y | n]<br />

2. Choose y to unglue <strong>OpenEdge</strong> Replication.<br />

Unglue removes all <strong>OpenEdge</strong> Replication-specific files from the <strong>OpenEdge</strong><br />

directory, but it does not remove the <strong>OpenEdge</strong> Replication product itself.<br />

3. To remove the <strong>OpenEdge</strong> Replication product, you must delete the <strong>OpenEdge</strong><br />

Replication directory tree.<br />

Manually removing earlier <strong>OpenEdge</strong> versions<br />

<strong>OpenEdge</strong> version 11.0 contains an uninstall comm<strong>and</strong> you can use to safely<br />

remove your software. To remove previous versions (for example, version 9) of<br />

<strong>OpenEdge</strong>, you must manually uninstall components.<br />

To manually remove earlier <strong>OpenEdge</strong> versions:<br />

1. Log in under the same domain <strong>and</strong> user name you used when installing<br />

<strong>OpenEdge</strong>.<br />

2. Ensure that <strong>OpenEdge</strong> is not running, <strong>and</strong> close all <strong>OpenEdge</strong> processes,<br />

including any online Help files you might have open.<br />

3. Delete the <strong>OpenEdge</strong> program directory, including all of its subdirectories.<br />

4. Shutdown any Web server running on your system <strong>and</strong> delete any<br />

<strong>OpenEdge</strong>-specific Web server files (such as cgiip.exe <strong>and</strong> wsisa.dll) from<br />

the Web server cgi-bin/scripts directory.<br />

5. Reboot your machine <strong>and</strong> follow the installation instructions in the “Performing the<br />

installation” section on page 163.<br />
