Remarks: p-t-<strong>Butylphenol</strong> was treated by stomach intubation at 2,500, 3,500, 5,000<br />

mg/kg and 10,000 mg/kg (males only) as a 25 % (w/v) suspension in corn<br />

oil.<br />

Sluggishness, unsteady gait, prostration, unkempt appearance, and nasal<br />

discharge were observed as the principal signs of toxicity. Signs of toxicity<br />

subsided in survivors at 3 to 7 days after dosing. Deaths were induced from<br />

2 hours to 5 days after dosing. In rats died during the study, there were<br />

mottling of the lungs and livers as the principal macroscopic lesions in<br />

female but no significant gross lesions in male.<br />
