The only bird that was never heard calling but observed perched and flying below the
canopy is the Fiji Goshawk, a bird of prey that has the potential to prey on other
animals. One that has been recorded feeding on iguanas in Yadua Taba is the Pacific
Harrier, of which two pairs were sighted flying over the hills on Makogai Island.
Open grasslands that are nesting sites for harriers are seldom on Makodraga but
observed on nearby Makogai.
