Comment/Explanation Next steps

protected areas. This program
evaluates 37 indicators that
permit to measure the level of
management of the protected
area. This program already
carries 10 years of execution,
and for the 2009, the total
praised of the PMEMAP (2009)
of the GD Omar Torrijos
H.National Park was of 855
points that corresponds to
satisfactory management.

Nevertheless, the
implementation of new
indicators is required for the
verification of the relation of
the protected area and its
impact in the quality of life of
the users and the communities
involved; likewise an indicator
is required to help to
corroborate if the management
of the protected area has
impacted of effective form in
the conservation of the
biodiversity.
The protected area counts with
some facilities and services for the
visitors, counts with a visitor’s
center, nevertheless, the
construction of new installations in
other entrances is required so that
they can support the access of
visitors to the Park.
