Our beautiful Deerhounds, Gandalf and Lily, died within 3 weeks of each
other. Candalf died at home within a few hours of picking up poison from an
unknown source. No doubt affected by the loss of her inseparable companion,
Lily quickly lost her uphill fight against a tumour.
candalf and Lily were not show dogs, just much loved menrbers of our famiry.
We just want people to know that they existed and of thejoy lhey brought to
us and everyone they met during their nine years of life. (iandall'was a big
dog, dignified and eccentric. Lily was regal in everythirrg. shc did. even in
dying. These two gentle creatures were our best friends. 'l hcir dcaths have left
a big gap and have made us realise what a privilegc it is to orrrr I)eerhounds

THE NAG BAG
In the run up to her critiquc our
judge wrote "after consultatitln
with exhibitors it was agreed to
judge outside" I don't think so!!
There were at least 5 or 6 (mYself
included) exhibitors sitting within
a few yards of our allocated ring Pic. Natqlie Heathcote
when the judge went to inspect it-not one of
us was .onrult"d; althougltl am told that one exhibitor who was there
at the time of the inspection was offered a choice and she opted for
outside. Whippet people were much more lucky, their judge did
consult therrr(notlusi one person) and they ended up incorporating
their covered ring with the other adjacent Deerhound ring-not only
cooler but with u bigg"r ring than those of us who were frying outside'
The summer shows East of-England, WKC and Richmond allocated
Deerhounds in a covered ring.
A HOUND GROUP JUDGES REPORT
I don't know if it interests you but I always look at the Hound Group
judges report at Championship Shows' Recently I was more than a
iittl"" ,u.p.ised by the iollowing critique on a DEERHOSND placed
G4 which went as follows.

E1'('... Oh dcar oh dear... and if I'm not mistaken this was one
of our.iudgcs itt rt rcccttt llreed Show.
