The Great Mother (Venus in Pisces) is known by many names (Aphrodite, Astarte, Isis,<br />

etc.). If Aphrodite is said to be wounded by a spear this means that the emanation of<br />

spiritual energies is taking place. This is what is meant by the Roman centurion<br />

wounding Christ with a spear-thrust on the Cross.<br />

The Crucifixion is the descent of the Star-Monad as a Soul into the rock-tomb of the<br />

physical body. The Ascension is the freeing of the Soul from the physical body. The<br />

Crucifixion is a symbolic psychological<br />

description of the involution and evolution of the Soul as an eternal process prior and<br />

subsequent to Christianity.<br />

The laming of Hephaestus (Weyland, Baalam, etc.) is the descent of the serpent forces of<br />

Fohat to the physical plane. This is the biblical serpent that bites the heel of man, his<br />

Achilles' heel. The fall of the Soul into the realm of desire is symbolized by the Serpent<br />

on the Tree in the Garden of Eden.<br />

The Crucifixion of Spirit in Matter<br />

The Sun is crucified by its<br />

apparent descent into the grave at<br />

the Winter Solstice.<br />

The Son (of the Father) Christ is crucified by his descent into the tomb of the physical<br />

body.<br />

The Spirit of man is crucified by its descent<br />

into the Lower Self or Personality from the<br />

Higher Self. It rises from this grave or tomb at<br />

the death of the physical body.<br />

The Sun begins to die at the Autumnal Solstice (bitten by the serpent of Scorpio (tribe of<br />

Dan). It is apparently dead in winter and Candlemas (February festival) celebrates the<br />

growing light of the Sun. It is exalted in Aries (Ram) at the Spring Equinox.<br />

Gate of Birth (womb) and Capricorn<br />

is the Gate of Death. This represents<br />
