dealt with recruiting Germanic unite. Much of its activity overlapped with
Amtsgrupp« B. Ant I.
Amt III. Germanische Erziehung. (Germanic Training). This office was
probably responsible for instructing 'Toreigners at Germanic training schools
and camps„
Other offices controlled by SS Hauptamt;
(lb Hauptstelle fur VBlkische Sohutznrbelt (Protective Measures for
non-Germans). Thia office was headed by SS Gruppenführer F. YTeber, It
waa established officially to protect the welfare of eleven million foreign
workers in Germany, but there is a strong possibility that it m s also used
to control foreign labor which waa considered a potential threat to internal
security.
(2} Amt Zwi.schenstattlicher Verbände und Einrichtungen (Liaison Office
for SS-related organizations abroad). Heinz Lorenz, brother of SS Ober­
gruppenführer Werner Lorenz (head of -»-he Volksdeutsche Lilttelstelle and
Volksbund für das Deutschtum in Aue land. (VDA)), headed this office .vhich
»aintalned contact with para-military organizations in occupied countries,
such as the Hlinka Guards in Slovakia and the Arrcw Gross formations in
Hungary.
