All Police activities concerned with the main­
tenance of order and the protection of public safety were
cambined in the- Ordnun/.spolizel (OrPo-Order Police; which
constituted more of a para-military fcrce than an organ­
ization of public servants« There were two categories of
OrPo: 1) the Polizeivollzu^abeamte (Regular Uniformed
Police, literally Police Executive Officials) who main­
tained order, directed traffic, protected public safety,
etc., and 2) the Verwaltunf.apolizei (Administrative Police)
who did the administrative work.
The Hauptamt Qrdunr.spollzel was divided into seven

Amter - three major offices and four lesser bureaus:
I. Das Kommandoamt (HIen Command or Operational
Headquarters of the Regular Police) Head
of this office was SS-brigf. Plade. This
office dealt with employment and other
personnel problems, as well as with medical
and hygienic services«. It was responsible
for training ard supply.*
II. Das Amt Verwaltunr und Recht (Office of
Administration and Judicial Matters; Head of
this office was SS-Grnb. Bracht. This office
