Senior Management<br />
Chairman and Non-executive Director<br />
Mr. MA Yun, Jack, aged 43, is our chairman and non-executive director. Mr. Ma<br />
is the lead founder and a director of <strong>Alibaba</strong> Group Holding Limited (formerly known<br />
as <strong>Alibaba</strong>.com Corporation, “<strong>Alibaba</strong> Group”), our holding company and has been its<br />
chairman and chief executive offi cer since its inception in 1999. Mr. Ma is responsible<br />
for the overall strategy and focus of <strong>Alibaba</strong> Group and our company. He is also a<br />
director of a number of our subsidiaries. Mr. Ma is a pioneer in the Chinese Internet<br />
industry, founding China Pages, one of the fi rst Internet-based directories in China,<br />
in 1995. From 1998 to 1999, Mr. Ma headed an information technology company<br />
established by the China International Electronic Commerce Center, a department of<br />
the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation. Mr. Ma currently serves on<br />
the board of SOFTBANK CORP., a leading digital information company that is publicly<br />
traded on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. As a respected business leader, Mr. Ma was<br />
chosen by the World Economic Forum as a “Young Global Leader” in 2001, selected<br />
by China Central Television and its viewers as one of the “Top 10 Business Leaders<br />
of the Year” in 2004, and selected as one of the “25 Most Powerful Businesspeople<br />
in Asia” by Fortune Magazine in 2005. Mr. Ma is also a member of APEC Business<br />
Advisory Council, which was established by the Asia-Pacifi c Economic Cooperation,<br />
or APEC, in 1995 as the vehicle for formalizing private sector participation in APEC.<br />
Mr. Ma holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from Hangzhou Teacher’s Institute.<br />
Executive Directors<br />
Mr. WEI Zhe, David, aged 37, is an executive director and our chief executive<br />
offi cer. He is also a director of a number of our subsidiaries. Mr. Wei joined <strong>Alibaba</strong><br />
Group in November 2006 as the president of the B2B business division and as<br />
an executive vice-president of <strong>Alibaba</strong> Group. Mr. Wei was the president, from<br />
2002 to 2006, and chief fi nancial offi cer, from 2000 to 2002, of B&Q China, a<br />
subsidiary of Kingfi sher plc, a leading home improvement retailer in Europe and<br />
Asia. Under Mr. Wei’s leadership, B&Q China grew to become China’s largest home<br />
improvement retailer. From 2003 to 2006, Mr. Wei was also the chief representative<br />
for Kingfi sher’s China sourcing offi ce, Kingfi sher Asia Ltd. Mr. Wei served as the<br />
managing director and head of Investment Banking for Orient Securities Co. from<br />
1998 to 2000, and as a corporate fi nance manager at Coopers & Lybrand, now<br />
part of PricewaterhouseCoopers, from 1995 to 1998. Mr. Wei holds non-executive<br />
directorship positions in HSBC Bank (China) Company Limited and the China<br />
Advisory Board of IMI plc, a FTSE 250 company. He was appointed as a<br />
non-executive director of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited<br />
on January 1, 2008. Mr. Wei holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Business<br />
Management from Shanghai International Studies University.
