ENTRY, RESIDENCE AND WORK PERMITS
3.2 Citizens of third countries. Short term (up to 6 months)
ENTRY
If you are not a citizen of the EU, EEA or switzerland, you should first check whether you need a
visa to enter Estonia. Information on visa requirements and the contact information of all of the
embassies can be found at the web page of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is useful
to check the website of the Estonian embassy in your home country for specific information.
You can apply for a visa at a diplomatic representation of the Republic of Estonia. If you plan to
stay in Estonia for less than 90 days, a short-term visa can be applied for. If you wish to work
in Estonia for 3 to 6 months, you will need to apply for a long-term visa. Both short-term and
long-term visa applications are processed in 30 days.
If there is no embassy in your home country you should approach the embassy nearest to you.
In that case you will have to follow the visa regulations of that country, so if another visa is
necessary, additional time should be planned for. If there is no embassy in your home country
you can also apply for a visa by mail or through a representative. You may still be asked to
appear personally at the diplomatic representation if there are any additional questions that
need clarification. As a rule, it is not possible to apply for a visa at the border of Estonia.
