8.5 Arrival in Estonia
EVERYDAY NECESSITIES
You can come to Estonia by plane, bus, train, ferry, car, and from Finland even by helicopter.
There are direct flights between many European cities and Tallinn Airport. The best plane
connections are with Helsinki, Copenhagen and stockholm, with several flights going every
day. Estonia’s national carrier, Estonian Air, is affiliated to sAs. Many other airlines also
operate in Tallinn.
Tallinn Airport (timetables, airlines, passenger info)
Tallinn Airport is located 4 kilometres from the centre of Tallinn. You can get to the centre by
taxi or also using public bus transport. The bus stop is right in front of the airport, at the exit
door of the arrivals area. Normal bus fare in Tallinn costs 15 EEk if you by the ticket from the
bus driver and 10 EEk if you buy it from a kiosk. The taxi fare from the airport to the centre is
quite affordable, costing (in spring 2007) under 110 EEk. In order to avoid misunderstanding,
clarify the approximate taxi fare to the destination in advance and ask for receipt.
