Moses into a swoon is the destructive radiance emanating from God‘s Jalal, as the Maliki faqih (jurist) al-<br />

Qayrawani (d. 996) noted: ―God…appeared to the mountain and it became leveled at His Majesty<br />

(Jalal).‖Thus, al-Qadi ‗Iyad (d. 1149) correctly notes in his classic text, al-Shifa, 104: ―This verse…means<br />

that Moses saw Allah and that is why he fell down in a swoon…His manifestation to the mountain was<br />

His appearance to Moses so that, according to the statement (Q 7:143), he actually saw Him.‖ The issue<br />

affirmed in this passage is NOT the invisibility <strong>of</strong> God but mortal man‘s inability to sustain a vision <strong>of</strong> His<br />

Majesty. As the important Hanafi Qadi Ibn Abi al-‗Izz (d. 1390) observed in his Sharh al-„aqida al-<br />

Tahawiya: ―We don‘t see Him in this life because our eyes are incapable <strong>of</strong> that, not because He cannot be<br />

seen. If someone tries to see the sun, he cannot, not because it cannot be seen but because our eyes are too<br />

weak.‖<br />

Nowhere does the Arabic Qur‘an claim that Allah is ontologically invisible. Nowhere does it declare that<br />

He is not nor can He be a man. These claims for the Qur‘an are theological readings <strong>of</strong> the text that<br />

betrays the philology <strong>of</strong> the text. Bro <strong>Muhammad</strong> Abdur-Rahman and Bro Imam Salim are my family<br />

and I respect their intellect. I cannot, however, allow them to persist in masquerading their idiosyncratic<br />

theological readings <strong>of</strong> the Qur‘an as the clear statements and perspective <strong>of</strong> the Qur‘an itself.<br />

<strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Wesley</strong> <strong>Muhammad</strong> you are absolutely right this is definitely not my religion, and that was definitely<br />

not the right choice <strong>of</strong> verbiage there on my part. So I will say for you <strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Wesley</strong>, The Religion (Al-<br />

<strong>Is</strong>lam) as stated by Allah in the Qur‘an! This religion is universal, and the door has been open for all walks<br />

<strong>of</strong> life. So you do have just as much rights to engage into these practices and principles as anyone else for<br />

that matter. Now that I got that out the way, let‘s continue what is important that is troubling you and<br />

your constituents.<br />

You said; I am here to discuss MY religion, which is <strong>Is</strong>lam; the <strong>Is</strong>lam that Allah Ta‘ala revealed to the<br />

Seal <strong>of</strong> the Prophets <strong>Muhammad</strong> b. Abd Allah and is codified in the Qur‘an.<br />

First and foremost, the way that your presenting your ideology <strong>of</strong> G-d being a man is erroneous, and that<br />

is not what was revealed to <strong>Muhammad</strong> the Prophet (SAW). Matter <strong>of</strong> fact <strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Wesley</strong>, the first<br />

commitment that a human being has to do before witnesses, is to bear witness to this faith. I‘m curious <strong>Dr</strong>.<br />

<strong>Wesley</strong>, what did you say? If you forgot here it goes: I bear witness that there is none worthy <strong>of</strong> worship<br />

except Allah, the One, without any partner. And I bear witness that <strong>Muhammad</strong> is His<br />

Servant/Messenger and seal <strong>of</strong> the Prophets.<br />

Ash-hadu anla ilaha illal-Lahu Wahdahu la Sharika Lahu wa-ash-hadu anna <strong>Muhammad</strong>an abduhu wa<br />

rasuluhu<br />

Allahu la ilaha illa Huwa, Al-Haiyul-Qaiyum La ta'khudhuhu sinatun wa la nawm, lahu ma fis-samawati<br />

wa ma fil-'ard Man dhal-ladhi yashfa'u 'indahu illa bi-idhnihi Ya'lamu ma baina aidihim wa ma<br />

khalfahum, wa la yuhituna bi shai'im-min 'ilmihi illa bima sha'a Wasi'a kursiyuhus-samawati wal ard, wa<br />

la ya'uduhu hifdhuhuma Wa Huwal 'Aliyul-Adheem<br />
