7.3 During the advancement of the exploratory holes the majority did not encounter free
groundwater, excepting exploratory hole TP1, where a seepage was noted at 1.8m within the
made ground.
7.4 Monitoring of the wells recorded at rest groundwater levels of between 0.35m and
1.29m below existing ground levels. The results of the groundwater monitoring carried out to
date are presented in Appendix E.
7.5 It should be noted that groundwater levels vary seasonally and that a higher water
table than that recorded could occur.
Physical Evidence of Contamination
Made Ground
7.6 Visual or/and olfactory evidence of hydrocarbon contamination was encountered
within the made ground at depths of between 2.0 and 3.4m in TP5 and in WS6 at depths of
between 1.2 and 1.8m. Ash based made ground was encountered the majority of exploratory
holes and could potentially present a source of contamination.
