Leachate Testing Results 7.26 Three samples of soil were submitted for leachate analysis, a summary of which is provided below. The assessment criteria are based on SEPA’s Resource Protection Values (RPV) provided in WAT-PS-10-01: Summary of Leachate Testing Results Determinand Maximum conc. Waste Classification 7.30 Waste classification testing has not been carried out. Any materials for off site disposal should be excavated and stockpiled separately prior to testing for disposal. Given that occasional elevated concentrations of TPH were recorded within the former backfilled reservoir, it is possible that some made ground in this area could be classified as hazardous waste for the purpose of off-site disposal. If any significant areas of visibly contaminated soils are recorded during the earthworks, this should be carefully segregated and assessed separately. 7.31 The natural ground is anticipated to fall under an inert classification, subject to the results of WAC analyses. Revised Conceptual Site Model 7.32 Based on the findings of the ground investigation, the following potential sources, pathways and receptors are identified: Sources of Contamination • Non volatile PAH contamination associated with the ash based made ground. • Hydrocarbon contamination associated with the former reservoir backfill. • Hydrocarbon contamination in groundwater within the former reservoir backfill. Pathways for Contaminant Migration • Humans – direct contact, soil ingestion and dust inhalation. • Lateral migration towards nearby watercourses (Espedair Burn). • Vertical migration into underlying aquifer.
