Pre-Installation Runtime Runtime is the term used for the programs and utilities needed to run generated systems. Generated systems, Reports, and Networks cannot run on your host equipment until Runtime is installed. Note: Runtime is supplied with Host Builder. System Transfer The System Transfer utility enables generated systems to be transferred to and from other MCP environments. It consists of the following parts: • The Transfer functions within Host Builder. These functions are used to produce a magnetic tape (similar to a release tape) or a series of pack files (for BNA/Disk transfer), containing the files for a generated system to be configured on a different host. • The Configure utility is used to install and configure a system from a magnetic tape or a directory of pack files produced on a different host. When transferring a system generated under release 3.1 to another MCP based host, you must also use Runtime or Host Builder from release 3.1 on the target host.
