This being the first Monday after filling up the council and for holding the Michaelmas head<br />

Court day the Convener and deacons were warned to attend accordingly.<br />

Thereafter the Clerk acquainted the Council that the Common acts had been carried to the<br />

Convener and Deacons And that they agreed that the Same should be published in the usual<br />

set in parcells And there be paid £272.12 Scotts to the Hospital besides the Clerks dues if the<br />

said Branch burgh being £6.13.4 Scotts 272.12.<br />

Several other Branches of the Revenue not then Lett but recommendation given to Baillie<br />

Hallyburton to Coverse with any person that may be inclined to offer for them<br />

The Council Ensuring that the Charity work house of this place is now given up by the Kirk<br />

Session refusing to pay the Stipulated Sum for Maintenance of the poor or to Contribute any<br />

more for their support – And therefore that the Hospital House and pertinants where the said<br />

poor were lodged has thereby Reverted to the Town Council as patrons of the Hospital they<br />

therefore appoint the said House to be Evacuate – if any poor remain therein – And of All<br />

persons who have the oversight And Management of them with the whole furniture and<br />

Utensils belonging to the said poor.<br />

The Provost Acquainted the Council that pursuant to their Orders he got the Hospital voided<br />

of the Begging Poor who had for sometime past been settled there and of the whole furniture<br />

and plenishing belonging to them – And which was delivered to the Directors or their order.<br />
