The Moderator of the Kirk Session Suspend James Greig in his office as presenter and<br />

Keeper of the Register of Baptisms, & Marriages – the Council appoint Answers to the<br />

Reasons in the said Suspension – And to protest Against the Kirk Session that they shall not<br />

throw away Any of the Poors Money upon Any Process Against the Town council.<br />

Offices of Presenter and Keeper of the Register of Baptisms and Marriages - Should be<br />

declared to be in the gift of and presentatun of the Kirk Session And Order Measures of<br />

Carmichael & Ballingal Ministers <strong>Dundee</strong> relative the Character and behaviours of the<br />

Magistrates of the Burgh – The Latter offered vindication by advertisement in the public<br />

Newspapers.<br />

The Committee Appointed last council day to inspect the Gardens which Mr Hallyburton<br />

wanted to be feued to him reported that they had visited the same And had Staked it off to<br />

him – And that they were of Opinion that fifteen shillings Sterling would be a reasonable Feu<br />

Duty. Which the Council Approved of and appointed a formal feu Contract to be made out and<br />

Signed.<br />

Councillor Appointed a Committee for Auditing ALL the accounts for the Year – Common Acts<br />

Ordered to be carried to the Trades.<br />

The Provost represented to the Council that in Consequence of Overtures Made Some time<br />

ago for An Accommodation betwixt the Council and the Trades as a Conference – the<br />

Conveener had Signified to him that they were willing to disclaim the process now depending<br />

at their Instance before the Court of Session against the Magistrates and Town Council –<br />

Upon Condition that the Town Council will grant them the following terms –<br />

1 st That in the Settlement of any of the three Ministers of the Burgh they shall be admitted to<br />

vote as Electors and Shall sign the Call along with the Town Council.<br />

2 nd That in the Alienation of the Towns property either by sale or feu they shall be consulted –<br />

And shall subscribe the Rights or Dispositions of conveyance Along with the council.<br />

Lastly – that they shall have a right to vote with the Town Council And concur in the Election<br />

of the Principal and Deputy Town Clerks – Which being Considered it was enacted that if the<br />

Trades shall by a writing Subscribed by their Conveener & Deacons Disclaim and Renounce<br />

the said process now depending before the Court of Session and declare that they shall put<br />

the Town Council to no further trouble and Expense on that Score the Town council on their<br />

part grant them their Several demands in Manner following –<br />

First – At all settlements of any of the Three Ministers of the Burgh – the Conv and Nine<br />

Deacons shall be received as Voters And shall Sign the Call.<br />
