MANN gave an in depth
analysis of the masters of the animated
short film outside the Disney universe followed
by scholar IB LINDBERG who knows
everything about Laurel and Hardy. The popular
highlight of this course was maybe the live
performance of the beloved “Benny” from the
series “The Olsen Gang” – the actor and for
many years also theatrical manager MORTEN
GRUNWALD. Of course the audience in addition
enjoyed Mel Brooks, Jacques Tati, Jerry
Lewis, Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon. That
week certainly was a laughing matter.
Copenhagen University lecturer PETER
SCHEPELERN again managed a successful
course focusing on the national film. This summer
he had gathered four of the most important
directors of their generation – SØREN KRAGH-
JACOBSEN, MORTEN ARNFRED, NILS
MALMROS and BILLE AUGUST. Each of
them have during the past season released new
films and therefore very strongly contribute to
the present success of Danish film. Another vet-
eranprofessional, screen writer
and script doctor, MOGENS RUKOV
from the national film school in Copenhagen,
gave interesting views on how to compose convincing
dramaturgy on film. The controversial
and highly successful producer, the unorthodox
REGNER GRASTEN, went through the
modes in a long and intense interview in which
the commercial aspect of the film industry was
highlighted. We also enjoyed the presence of
BIRTHE NEUMANN, supporting actress in
so many films and now a star in her own right.
Of course EFC-editing teacher ALLAN KAR-
TIN and TV2-photographer MICHAEL
LINDEBJERG conducted their practical and
creative course “And Action” over two weeks.
Jens Rykær organizes the summer folk high school
in conjunction with Susanne Katz, Susanne
Brandt and Bettie Brendorp.
