The National Committee of the European
Youth Parliament in Belarus
The National Committee of the EYP in Belarus is the executive body running the national
branch of the European Youth Parliament. The main task of the National Committee is to support
the development of the EYP in what can be quite challenging conditions. The main fields of
activity of the National Committee are international cooperation and partnership, marketing and
PR, fundraising, running sessions to select delegations and regional development. The National
Committee in Belarus is made up of young people from various cities across Belarus who were
democratically elected by electronic poll and direct ballot voting. The National Committee is
headed by a president who is considered an equal member with extra responsibilities. The vicepresident
is responsible for the smooth running of the organisation in the case of the president’s
resignation. The National Committe is also responsibile for the promotion of European values
and principles of participative democracy in the challenging circumstances presented by Belarus.
Being a non-registered organisation, the National Committee has to overcome additional barriers
while managing the EYP in Belarus. The main focus is therefore placed on sustaining the organisation’s
development.
Activities in 2009
Mini National Session in Minsk
From September 26 - 27 EYP Belarus organized
a Mini National Session in Minsk
with the support of the Naumann Foundation.
Counting 50 participants, this Session
introduced EYP activities to newcomers.
