The National Committee of the European
Youth Parliament in Poland
EYP Poland was officially registered in early 2006. Since then a group of engaged young volunteers
from various Polish cities has been active in promoting European topics. Over the past
four years, approximately forty EYP events have been organised in Poland. EYP Poland possesses
vast experience in organising successful EYP events. It consists of approximately 60 active members
organising around 10 local, regional and national events annually. Its foremost aim is to foster
the general EYP goals in Poland among the 16 to 19 age group. Other prime objectives of EYP
Poland include raising awareness of European issues, encouraging active European citizenship,
motivating students to become engaged in European politics, promoting international understanding,
intercultural dialogue and diversity of ideas and practices, contributing to the personal skills
development of European youth and providing a forum in which young people of Europe can
express their own opinions, without reverting to role play.
Activities in 2009
6th National Selection Conference
The 6th National Selection Conference held
in Rzeszow from September 17 - 20 led to
the selection of four delegations (from Opole,
Lodz, Warszawa and Torun) to participate
in the 62nd and 63rd International Sessions
of the EYP in Helsinki and Tromso respectively.
The event was organised under the
patronage of the Initiative Together’89 and
allowed for discussion about the twentieth
anniversary of the fall of communism in
Poland. Special guests included Mr Radosław
Sikorski, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Prof.
Jerzy Posłuszny, Chancellor of the Higher
School of Law and Administration in Przemysl-Rzeszów,
Mr Tomasz Poreba, MEP, Ms
Elzbieta Łukacijewska, MEP, Dr Mirosław
Karapyta, Voievode of the Podkarpackie
Region, Mr Zygmunt Cholewinski, Marshall
of Podkarpackie, Mr Tadeusz Ferenc, Mayor
of Rzeszow, and Dr Mirosław Kurek, Dean of
the Higher School of Law and Administration
Przemysl-Rzeszów.
