Latvijas Jauniešu organizacija «Tellus»<br />
The National Committee of the <strong>European</strong><br />
<strong>Youth</strong> <strong>Parliament</strong> in Latvia<br />
LYO «Tellus» was founded in 2004 and since then has organised 10 EYP sessions including one<br />
International Session in 2006. Tellus currently has two working groups - EYP Latvia and Training.<br />
EYP Latvia consists of approximately 20 members. A coordinator system has been implemented<br />
to give each member a field of responsibility. EYP Latvia is led by an elected individual who takes<br />
up the role of National Coordinator. Main priorities in <strong>2009</strong> included organising a successful<br />
National conference as well as developing contacts with teachers. Both priorities were fulfilled<br />
and now for 2010 we are aiming higher - if all goes well, by the end of 2010 EYP Latvia will have<br />
organised seven regional sessions, one forum and of course the annual National Conference. We<br />
are trying to reach out in the regions and will hopefully continue to make progress in 2010.<br />
Activities in <strong>2009</strong><br />
7th Latvian National Selection<br />
At this conference, delegates were chosen<br />
to represent Latvia at International Sessions<br />
in Helsinki and Tromso. Ms Tatjana Koke,<br />
Minister of Education, was a special guest at<br />
this National Selection Conference which<br />
took place from August 6 - 9 in Valmiera<br />
and gathered 55 young people.<br />
