The National Committee of the European
Youth Parliament in Sweden
Founded in 2005, the European Youth Parliament Sweden is one of the fastest expanding national
committees in the EYP, engaging over a thousand youths in Sweden yearly. In 2009 EYP Sweden
had two main priorities. Firstly, organising the 60th International Session in Stockholm, the
biggest international youth project in Sweden that year and, secondly, to capitalise on the attention
and energy boost of the session by creating four regional committees to meet the increasing interest
and engagement from the members. EYP Sweden grew from approximately 150 members in
2008 to over a thousand members by the end of 2009. In 2010 the organisation will continue to
develop and support the regional committees’ many various local activities as well as organise the
annual National Session, held in the city of Stockholm.
